Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Weight difference between my 938AG and the 290RS?

Have a 938 and was considering a 290RS.  Sig lists the weight of my 938 at 16 ounces with the alloy frame and grips.  The specs for the 290 with polymer frame show the weight as 20.5 ounces. Both weights without mags.  Polymer weighs more than alloy?  Looking for lighter not heavier!

The P290RS is ~20.5 ounces with an empty magazine.

The P938 is ~17 ounces with an empty magazine.

The sub frame in the P290 is steel surrounded by a polymer grip frame.

My 938 Nightmare weighs a touch under 17 oz. with an empty mag.
The 290 is not a true polymer-frame pistol - it is steel wrapped in polymer.
