not sure if this has already been discussed but I couldn't find it.

I was looking for a holster for the mk 25 and I didnt like how large some of the options out there seemed, so I went with the alien gear iwb/owb combo. It is technically made for the 226r but they said it was rumored it would fit. Figuring I could just return it if it didn't, I ordered. Now this is my first kydex holster and really my first good holster ( don't think universal ones from surplus stores count...) but it seems to be a great fit. Not sure about the size difference between the 226r and mk 25. Since this is only kydex on one side the pistol will not fall out when held upside down, but will when givin a good shake. When the holster is actually on you the retention seems legit, and adjustable, shaking it upside down while wearing will not dislodge it...if you find yourself in that situation

The owb version is what I was looking for and will probably find its way onto a battle belt here soon. I was wanting something with level 2 retention but I think if I really find that to be necessary I can rig up some kind of snap that would be accessed by my index or middle finger. Or I may be not trusting enough of the kydex retention. I do like the holster and have no regrets about it.

Not super sure if I like the iwb model, but then again I have never had an iwb and I don't think the mk 25 is what you call a concealed gun anyway. It is made for your strong side (about 430) so it will not work if you want to wear the pistol at the 6 o clock position (gangsta style?) unless you get the opposite handed version. But I am sure that once I get used to it it will be perfect.

Just wanted to help out other mk 25 owners that are as lost as I was about how to carry this sexy beast

I have had the OWB holster for about 6 months. It quickly becomes loose and will have no retention once so ever in a few weeks. I really like the Cloak Tuck 2.0 though.

Yikes. That's not what I wanted to hear. Was it the kydex or the connections or just the whole package?

the leather stretches to much to hold the gun tightly. Check out Garret Industries Silent Thunder if you want a kydex shell with a leather interior. THey also have a level 2 retention holster.
