Some places on the web say that classic P226 mags work fine in the P224, some places say they don't...

I'm a Sig fan, but I can't believe Sig used a sightly different size mag in the newer P224/P229-1 handguns for the same caliber.  Seems like a stupid move.

I have old 9mm 226 and 228/9 magazines and they work in my m11-a1.  They wobble a bit side-to-side but no issues.

Sig makes only one 229 frame now rather than two, so they're saving money.  Good in the long run, but they obviously aren't passing any savings along to customers!

I have a p226 and p224. When I carry my 224, I carry a 20 round 226 magazine for reload. I have used the 15, 18, and 20 round 226 magazines with the 224 with no problems. I have no experience with the 229.
