Looking for a carry piece a little lighter than my 1911 stainless commander.

Opinions on those who own one?

If you want to carry .45, the 30S is a excellent choice. However, the frame is the same thckness as 30 gen 4 (without backstrap added) and the 30SF, which the 30S is a gen 3 pistol. So, the slide will NOT mount "correctly" to a gen 4 frsme. There will be a gap between the slide and frame, but it WILL mount, just not as it should be. There are no gen 4 30S's made. But, I have a G30g4 and a 30S. The 30S frame is same as my gen 4, but the slide is slimer.

So, you can opt for the 30S, it has "slightly" more kick, I suppose because of the lighter slide. The G30g4 is excellent too as is the G30SF (g3). They are both highly reliable and accurate. The G36 is the single stack .45 and reminds me of 1911 sorta with the thickness.

Thank You, my understanding is that the 30s if the SF frame with the 36 slide correct?

Comparible to a g19 in size if you use the 10 round mags will even work in g19/23/32 holster as long as they have adjustable retention do to being slightly thicker. Recoil isn't bad at all I get I a lot  of muzzle rise but still very controllable.

YES, that's correct. The gen 3 slides (will) mount to a gen 4 frame, but NOT like it's supposed to. It is mounted (30S) to a gen 3 SF frame which is equal in size anyway to a gen 4 without backstraps added. There would be a gap between the slide and frame. I do not know if it would be reliable either. Gen 4's are unto them self in this instance. Same goes witrh G21.

SF Gen 3 frame or gen 4 will work. Mine works like a champ! Also fits in all my 19 holsters and takes 21 mags!

Have you tried putting your 30S slide on your Gen 4 Frame?   I don't think you will see a gap with the 30 Gen4 frames.  Look at the pic above.

I tried it on my 9mm's and spoke with a advanced amorer who informed me no, gen 4 unto gen 4. When I did this on my 19's there is huge gap. I'll try it tonite

It won't work on the 9mm and .40 frame Full Size and Compact Glocks.  The Gen4 frames will accept Gen3 slides in the 26 type Sub-Compact models and 30 Type Compact models ETC.

I replaced my G26 with a 30S.

Use the same Crossbreed ST holster and don't notice any difference in weight (I haven't weighed them to see the actual difference).

Outstanding pistol I copied yours after I saw your post. Best Glock ever! Now if Glock inc would make a 30S gen4 they would sell a ton of them. I know originally they were marketed to the LAPD SIS and gen 4 pistols are not on the approved list in California. Wonder if that's why? Or are the using it as a marketing ploy?

I just bought a 30s today.  I have to say it's going to be a fantastic ccw gun.  It's lighter that a 19 and shorter in the grip without being overly short if that makes sense.  I am a bi disappointed that I can not add an extended slide release but I can make due with the oem one.  A larger mag release and 3.5 lb connector will be my first upgrades and I will most likely have the finger grooves removed.

You could just sell the SF frame and buy a gen4 29/30 frame or 2 complete guns on GB. That's what I did. Sorta see below post. I love mine. It's sold mods so I don't think me posting it is a violation. Initial cost was a bit high but I came out a bit above even $50 or so.

Very nice! No more than a 23 it just feels different more of a upward push not snap like a 23. I'd call it a 45 ACP snap which is less snappy than a 40. You have two wow do you carry one on each hip like a cowboy. If so I'm envious. Texas has open carry now so I'd look so cool like that.

Only have a couple hundred rounds through mine so far but im liking it a lot. Very comparable to my precious Gen4 19 that is my daily carry, and will see some rotation in the carry as well once I change out the sights.

Heads up, contrary to what people say, I have several kydex holsters for my 19 and the 30s will not fit in any of them. The frame is just too fat for them, maybe if you had a hybrid like a crossbreed or alien gear, or leather holsters will work.

Yah will have issues with a custom kydex holster. It's made to exact tolerances so it won't work or be interchangeable.

Either a 30s or model 43, depending on weather or clothing considerations is my EDC 90 percent of the time (once in a while a 1911 or J frame for nostalgic reasons). Both wear 10-8 sights.
