Super clean lines, looks great. Is there a reason some guys(like the one of yours above) leave the smooth line between the side and backstrap? Just for aesthetics? Or maybe the fit of the bigger backstraps or something.

Yeah I like to leave that line for looks and it still gives the option of adding a larger backstrap if wanted later on

I really want the finger humps removed and the frame stippled. I'm nervous to do it myself and don't want to ship the frame or be without my gun for any amount of time.

What do you guys think it would look if I stippled just the front strap?

Take your time and do it. I did it myself by first practicing on an AR A2 grip.

Heres my first attempt at stippling and grip reduction. I was super nervous considering I'd just bought the gun a day before.

Before:

First phase of grip modification from early 2012; consisting of flattening out the hump, incorporating a speedwell in the cavity with epoxy, removed the finger straps, opening up the area around the magazine release and lastly stippling in the areas where surfaces were removed:

Current phase:

Overall more reduction in grip, trigger guard undercut and enlarged the scallop around the magazine release for a better purchase. The bare sanded areas will need to be further refined into a mirror polish as soon as I figure out a good method. The border for stippled areas with a radius such as the upper back part and underneath the trigger guard was accomplished using a small piece of aluminum flashing held on with a C-clamp.  The overall grip feels MUCH better now.

I have small vinyl coyotes I made and I sanded out the frame where I wanted them, stuck them on and stipples around them.

First attempt at stippling.  Overall I'm pleased with how it came out.  Trimmed bottom of the trigger guard to get a higher grip on the gun and removed the finger grooves.
