Hello, my buddy just sent me this pic of a glock he is looking at buying,
But I've never seen this porting before.
Any thoughts?

Bubbas country gun shop did it.

ETA the finger discipline tells me the guy holding it might be the culprit.

Maybe it's the pic, but the holes look... terrible.
I'd guess that someone took a drill and tried to play gunsmith.

Looks like those special edition Khyber jobs that came out a while back

Ya I don't know if it's the angle of the pic  , but the ports
Don't look like they line up

That would be a Drill Press Special port job, very common in the backwoods areas and highly coveted by white trash and hillbilles.

Those holes look like a British guys smile.

Let's not miss the fact that it appears to be at a gun shop or pawn shop, by the looks of the sticker on the gun case.

Tell him to pass on it.

The only way I would consider buying that is if the cost of a new barrel was factored in. Still better be dang cheap

I want to see what the barrel looks like. It can't be good

Shit, the porting is even in the wrong place, let alone the right size, or lined up.

Correct it was a pawn shop . It was a 19 and they wanted 360$
I sent him the link to this thread and he passed.

I would have liked to see the barrel too. But it's too late.
I told him the slide could be machined  , removing the holes
With some nice tooling and refinished. But between that and the Condition of the barrel,
It just wouldn't be cost effective.

What a waste. I wonder how many drill bits they went through to do that.

Damn.........
Mother of God.

it even looks like one of the early Gen2 19's due to the 90 degree ejection port.
Holes not lined up and different sizes.

That's horrible.

It APPEARS to be similar to what Accurate Plating offers, BUT the quality appears to be substandard. This style is used as a last resort when other options for porting are not applicable.

The CORRECT way to port a Glock....

Interesting. My glock 40 is ported the same as yours, I think it was done by aero tek?
But it doesn't have the writing on the top of the barrel.
But I agree, I think that is one of the better ways to port a pistol

Yep, Winchester 9mm 127 gr +P+ clocks out at 1094 vs 1206 out of my Glock 26.

AND there is almost NO muzzle climb!

AroTek does a similar porting system BUT, what they do is High Temperature Silver Solder a "rail" on top of a factory Glock barrel.

Then they machine it flat to where it is a flat top on the barrel, then they machine a corresponding flat groove on the inside of the Glock slide where the "rail" is ALMOST touching the slide.

Then they cut the ports though the slide AND barrel.

AroTek porting job, if you look close you can see the barrel rail against the slide through the ports.

AroTek at one time did a porting job similar to mine, they would attach a tall rail to the factory Glock barrel and then cut a slot through the barrel like mine has.
