Wife just got me a G19 (gen 4) for my birthday yesterday! . I am a long time Glock owner, but havent bought new mags in a few years.  I see CDNN has Korean Manufactured mags that fit G17 & G19. In fact, the G19 15rd mags are only $7.99!

I am considering these mags only as range mags, my carry/self defense mags would always stay Glock OEM.  I am just curious how many of you guys have bought used these? Do they run okay? Are they reliable?

For $7.99, I could pick up 10 of these for range use and never give a shit about abusing them, stepping on them, etc.   Thoughts?

Thanks,
KingOfTheBumps

All seven of mine work (g19-g17) perfectly. I trimmed the extra plastic with a modelers knife.

That said I paid $5 apiece. And they are not for my carry gun. Only the range.

There is probably 10,000 threads on this topic.  The only ones I've had a problem with is the 33 rounders.  The others have been fine.  I pick up a few everytime I buy Glock mags from CDNN and only when they are $4.99.

Buy a bunch of them... If they ever ban Hi Caps again, you'll be so ahead.  But yeah for actual carry, put the best (factory) mags in the gun.

Pretty similar experiences as the others. I picked up 4 when the were $4.99 a piece at CDNN. I use them for range only obviously.

Now, I have had one problem with one of the magazines. I was allowing a friend to shoot with them since he only has 2 OEM mags and while at the range, the base plate popped off. The spring/follower came out including all 12 or so rounds. The magazine was almost full.

I put the thing back together after we found all of the pieces and it seemed to work well after that.

RANGE ONLY

Thanks guys for the responses.  FYI: I did searches for "Korean Glock" and "Korean Glock Magazines" but nothing came up.  I haven't been in the Glock forums for years, so I appreciate the replies.  I will wait for the CDNN sale!

I have 10-20 of them and all have worked perfectly for me. I still only use factory mags for carry and for 3-gun just in case a problem ever arises.

Where are you finding them for $7.99?

I have had the base plate come off during a class.

They won't lock back the slide on any of my guns, even with replacement followers.

I bought 4 for the M31 (.40 S&W mags should feed .357 SIG fine - the Glock mags do).

I opened two - they didn't work.

I trimmed the excess plastic off the lips.  They didn't work.

I took them apart and sanded the excess plastic off the inside.  They didn't work.

I bought Glock mag springs and followers for them.  They didn't work.

I won't buy any more.

1/2 I bought were shit and jammed constantly, 1/2 functioned as well as factory.

Just spend a very little more, for OEM, and you never have to ask this question.

I bought 7 KCI mags for 4.99 each.  Every one fed fine, and locked the slide back fine.  I used them in competition with zero problems.

I also bought some from CDNN for 4.99.   I have KAHN and KCI.  I have used them for practice and have experienced a couple of failure to feed issues.   I disassembled the mag and cleaned them.   After cleaning I trimmed some plastic flashing, and recleaned.    After that I have not had any problems.   Each mag has been ran through multiple training courses and loaned to other people.   I consider them fine for training but have never been confident in using them for carry.    I just bought a couple of new Glock magazines and have decided to spend the extra money to get the real Glock magazines hen I find them on sale.

The Korean mags work but may require some work.   Real Glock mags are worth the extra money if a person can afford them.   This may not help much but has been my experience.  Get what you can afford to train with.

I bought 5 Glock 19 mags, 5 glock 17 mags and 5 33rnd mags.

Trimmed the plastic and have never had any issues in around 2000rnds from my Gen4 19 and Gen4 26.

As others have said I pretty ONLY use factory mags for carry and serious use but for range fun they haven't had any issues yet.

I own 25 or 30 of them as range mags for the 19 and 17.  Other than cleaning up some excess flash, they have worked 100%.

I have 2 or 3.  They don't drop free in my 19, but do in my 17.  All have functioned perfectly.  One of them has the added benefit of being able to fit an extra round in it.

Do they have "KCI" on the baseplate?  Or something else?

I keep ~20 on hand for my G19 and G17, they all work. I think 3 or 4 were really, really rough, but 5 minutes each with an Xacto knife fixed them up. Good range mags, and with new springs, fine for carry as well.

Same for me. They are a little rough around the edges, but a little trimming and they are fine. I only use them for the range.

I got one the other day for around $10, I figured thats not a lot of money to lose if it didnt work.  It runs just fine.  I have only ran about 100 rounds through it but no hickups what so ever.  The spring was a little stiff at first but now its comparable to my other glock mags.

The three Korean G22 magazines that I bought were complete non-functional garbage.  Changing the spring and follower for Glock OEM only improved the situation a little bit.

Baseplates are prone to popping off in the heat during competition. They break when you drop them on concrete as well.

I got a 33rd mag for my G19. I've used it about 3 times and haven't had any problems yet, but it's pretty early for a judgement.

Do they make any of these Asian mags for a glock 17 for that 4.99 price or around that haven't found any yet.  Just ordered 3 factory ones but would like to add some more.

Dude, they're range mags.

How many mags do you need for Concealed Carry or Home Defense?  You buy the Korean mags, because they're inexpensive and you can load them up and spend less time at the range loading magazines and more time shooting. Don't count on something that cheap though with your life.

I bought 4.

Opened 2.

Didn't work.

Dremeled area around the lips.  Disassembled them.  Sanded/polished the interior to remove the plastic bumps.

Didn't work.

Replaced the Korean followers and springs with Glock followers and springs.

They seem to work fine at the range but are difficult to load even with the uplula loader (rounds hang/stick when depressing the rounds with the loader).

I'll use them at the range but leave them in the range bag and keep Glock magazines in the gun and the belt/mag/pouches.

Between the dremel work, the interior sanding/polishing work, the Glock springs and followers - I should have just bought Glock magazines - and will in the future.

The reason you hear both good and bad about these mags, is that they are INCONSISTENT.

If you get good ones, they are great, and if you don't, they may not ever work. I wonder if they are made in many different places by different people.

I've broken base plates (2) like this. If the ground is hard, they'll crack.

Does anyone know where I could buy replace base plates ?

Thanks,

Mine work perfectly, drop free, lock the slide back and all, but i'm running a 3rd gen g19.

I use them for training and it keeps my OEM mags from getting beat to hell and filled with dirt on the range.

I bought one 33 rounder. Had alot of issues. Never again. You can get factory mags from I think Botach for $20. From now on my money will be spent on factory mags. Same as with my ruger 10/22.
