If you have some extra cash you can put a Red Dot sight on it .

They're pretty darn good right out of the box. I'd recommend replacing the AK style slant brake, or re-notch it to to the 6 o'clock position. The Slovak style brake seems to get good reviews and is 'period correct' for VZs. There are several good threads on cleaning & lubing a stuck stock hinge, read up on them so you don't strip your threads while unsticking it. If you want a more comfortable stock you can wrap yours in paracord, or add a rubber butt pad from UTG or Zahal. The UTG is a copy of an AK grenade pad, thick & cushy and twice as wide as the stock butt, but won't allow the stock to lock up folded. The Zahal pad is smaller and more like hard plastic and allows the stock to lock up folded without scratching your receiver. If the stock grip is too small there's a few aftermarket rubber grips out there as well. And buy lots of ammo.

More magazines Also ditch that slant brake if you don't like the cheek slap. I run just thread protector and the recoil is a soft push.

First thing I did with mine was replace the slant brake with a thread protector. That was just because I thought the slant brake just didn't look right on a VZ.

AIM has mags, they say like new, for $15. I ordered 3 of them and also another pouch from Ebay.

Yup I just pulled the trigger on a PSA deal as well. I couldn't pass it up. I'm thinking of trying to mount a piece of rail to the side of the handguard for a light and then rattle caning the whole thing. Any tips or thoughts? I want to add a new muzzle device and at some point a new upper handguard for a micro red dot. Who can help a brother out with some after market parts?

I just picked up my second one yesterday.  The first one I got shoots great.  I can hit an 8" gong at 200 yards (off of a rest) with ease.  The front sight only needed pushed to the right a little.

I freakin love these guns!

$399 Dang!  A parts kit will cost ya $300.

Have had mine for about 1 month now.  I had to invest in a site adjustment tool.  It was shooting 6 inches to the right at 25 yards.  No misfires or malfunctions using Tula.  My friend ordered three.  The first 10 rounds he broke the firing pin.

Decided to pick up a VZ58 rifle via Palmetto and keep researching on utilizing a VZ58 pistol as a suppressor host. I'd like to get a few parts ordered, in particular get the slant brake replaced ASAP. Any ideas on best ones out there currently and in stock?

I couldn't stand reading about all "youse guys" getting this deal so I took the plunge. I probably should have bought two but all I can afford is one at the moment.

Ordered one over a week ago from PSA. Haven't heard from them or from my FFL yet. Do they usually take a long time? I'm a new customer.

Anyone cheaper than Centerfire Systems or should we wait for Palmetto State to get more in?

Buds has them for $460 I think. It's not clear from their ad (last time I saw it anyways). But at least one person said in their reviews that it came with the 5 mags, etc.

Got mine in yesterday. Only gripe is the mags are kinda wobbly. No effect on function so I'm a happy camper.

Considering all the stuff I got with it, I'd say it's the best deal I'll get on a gun in a while.

I know this doesn't do anyone outside of South Carolina any good but I was in my local PSA store last week and they had one sitting out on the counter. I commented that I had one and was happy with it, the guy behind the counter said they were selling well and they planned to keep carrying them...

I see Buds jumped their price up by $76 to 536 in the last day or two.

Got mine in yesterday. The stock on that thing is TIGHT. I had to tap on the release with a nylon hammer just to get it to open and close. I still can't open or close it by hand.

The mags fit a little tight. I looked at them closer and they look like they've been painted. None of the parts look used. No wear marks that I can find anywhere. The bayonet that came with it was bent. The mag pouch with the extra mags looked like new. The mags inside also looked fresh painted.

My stock is the same way. Immpossible to open with my thumb. I take my leatherman lay across it and push on the leatherman so i can used multiple finger.

My bayonet is missing the tip. Four of the five mags were painted the other one is kind of beat up but functions perfect.
The hand gaurd gets hot if you shoot it rapidly. Which surprises me figuring it is a military rifle designed to be fire rapidly.

I've been checking mine out today. The rear takedown pin is bent. I have to take a punch and tap it out to take the rifle apart. Still haven't found a way to loosen the stock so that it can be opened and closed just using finger pressure. I can't see any wear marks that would indicate that it's even been test fired.

Finally got a chance to go to the range with mine today. Shot great  it choked one time with a FTF. Don't know why. Could not see anything wrong with the round or the gun. Reloaded the round back into the magazine again, fed and fired no problem at all. This thing slings brass. Zero ejection problems. I found out what "face slap" means.

I'll probably cover the arm of the Buttstock with 550 cord and see if that helps. This may end up as my truck gun. It would look pretty cool roughed up with the "battlefield pickup" look to it.
