I found a VZ SA58 at a good price at a local gun shop and may pick it up if I can set it up the way I like.  Who makes railed Handguards for the SA58?

Hi from Czech rep.

Best railed hanguards are made here:

They send to USA no problem. Their handguard keeps dissasembly with no tools + holds zero 100%. I used it for over a year.

I thought due to ITAR....You cannot purchase from other than approved importers.  I.E. Mako Group.

I think you are correct, that is why I am going to buy USA made stuff from Bonesteel Arms.

Bonesteel is good one. I've got a set on one of my 58s. It's excellent. His communication is usually pretty lacking and I don't know when he'll have more available.

Your other readily available options are a polymer or aluminum set from FAB/Mako.

Both are good quality, but the aluminum ain't cheap at $300. The polymer is good quality and even made it over to the sandbox with Czech/Slovak forces. But you would run the slight risk of melting it with enough sustained shooting. Just like on a polymer AK railed handguard.

Troy/NEA had a set. But I don't believe they've made them the last few years. It's good quality if you find one.

There are a couple other options available readily. But the ones that clamp on the barrel (Tuff Force or something) I would avoid.

Generally (and this ain't legal advice) buying some accessories/ stuff overseas is OK as long as the value isn't over $100 (from what I've read/researched). Over that, you need special paperwork if it's OK to bring in at all. Sure some people buy stuff over $100. But it ain't worth the risk.

ITAR applies to items that are over, I think, $100.
