I'm thinking about picking up a 106u. I'm looking for experiences and thoughts on SBRing into a triangle sidefolder.

Thanks.

Well from the looks of it, you're going to have to do the trunnion swap. That's pretty pricey. I'd say as long as you're ok with the cost then do it. I personally had a bit of sticker shock when my guy told me the cost....

If it were me, I think it would be more economical to get one similar to the 104ur (in 5.56 if they offer it) and do the barrel chop

The SLR pistols already have the side folder trunnion installed, IIRC they have a plate pinned to the back of the trunnion to prevent install of a stock. after removing the plate you'll also have to drill the holes in the receiver for the rear latch and drill into the front trunnion and receiver to install the front latch.
ETA: here's a thread on the files about the conversion http://www.akfiles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=222485

I SBRed my 106u pistol. They do come with the proper trunion Turbothis I think is his name on here, drilled all the holes and intalled the front latch and all the other parts. Came out great. Good price, and very fast turn around.

I've found the factory SBR 106 Krink for $1495... It's hard to price these since they are out of production. Not sure if that is a good deal or not.

Too late now, but I found it cheaper to buy the 106UR and get the barrel cut when the stamp came in.

that maybe true but the 106ur with the 16'' barrel is wayyy overgassed. I wouldn't suggest shooting it until the chop, or you risk damaging the rear trunnion or causing the rivets to fail. 106u pistol is going to be more shootable until the stamp is approved.
