This is my SBR based on an M92. It took a long time to build, especially since I had to build a custom rear trunion, but I finished it today and zeroed it at 25 yds.

Base gun: PAP M92
Muzzle break: Manticore Arms Nightbreak
Handguard: Manticore Arms Renegade
Red dot: Burris Fastfire III
Front sight: XS AKM
Rear sight: filed out
Safety: riveted on Krebs finger shelf, converted to semi auto
Grip: US Palm AK Battle Grip
Trigger: ALG AKT
Rear trunion: custom fabricated high profile AR adapter
Stock: B5 Bravo

Trunion, before it was finished and installed:

I haven't worked out all the bugs yet, but it's working pretty well so far. I do have two problems I could use help with:

1. The stock collapses under recoil about every 3 to 5 rounds in rapid fire. This is a serious issue. I can swap out the stock to see if the problem is the buffer tube or the stock, but haven't had time yet. Anyone else have this issue?

2. The front sight seems to be screwed down as far as it will go, which is a problem because the gun is shooting low on irons so the front sight needs to be lowered (rear sight is immoveable).

Also, I have  "Wild Bill" adapter that I'm not going to use. I paid something like $50 for it. I'd like to sell it. PM me if interested. I'll take whatever I can get for it. It's new, never used. Comes with back plate and both bolts.

Wild Bill adapter thread, for reference: Wild Bill adapter

Edit: fixed typo

Can anyone tell me why the pictures aren't displayed? I used the built in <img> tag, which has worked in the past, but this time it's not working.

You seem to have not linked to actual image, but to imgur page URL or something.

However, one thing you said:

2. The front sight seems to be screwed down as far as it will go, which is a problem because the gun is shooting high on irons so the front sight needs to be lowered (rear sight is immoveable).

Pretty obvious prob there: if gun is shooting high, front sight must be raised, not lowered. Front sight adjustments are the opposite of those for the rear sight.

1. The stock collapses under recoil about every 3 to 5 rounds in rapid fire.

Have never seen this with any AR buffer tube/stock combo, regardless of how cheap they were. Something truly obviously wrong there. Does that Bravo stock allow depth adjustment on the plunger? Or is that a set screw involved there, maybe not holding plunger firmly or something?

Here are your 4 pix:

Re: front sight issue
The issue with the sights was a typo. The gun is shooting low on irons. In my original post, I mistakenly wrote "high." I edited the original to correct the typo. That being said, the problem exists: the gun shoots low, so the front sight needs to be lowered, but it's lowered all the way already.

Re: stock collapse
There is a screw on the plunger. I've turned it a bunch. It seems to just be spinning freely, or at least it doesn't appear to be tightening. I've never seen this before either. I'm not sure what else to try.

Re: the image links
I edited the original post to include links to the actual image files, not the imgur page, but it still shows me links. Actually, a couple times in "preview" it did show the images, but then once I clicked "submit" it was back to links. Thanks for posting the pics. Hopefully I'll get it figured out eventually...

Move the front sight the opposite way you want to move the POI in your case raise the front sight (front sight opposite rear sight the same) that will fix the POI issue.

POI is 6" low at 25 yards. I want the POI to move up, so I need to lower the front sight. The problem is that the front sight is all the way down already. Rear sight is immovable.

Sight: is there any reason you can't just file the sight post down to a length that gives you a full range of adjustability?

Pics: you have less than 50 posts, so members have to "approve" your images before they'll appear.

This is a dumb question I am correct in thinking you have the rear sight on the 200m setting instead of the 400m setting?

Not really. It's got the tritium insert (and white paint) in the middle, so there isn't much room to file it down. It's the XS AK sight if you want to see it.

Ahhh...thanks for clearing that up.

Not a dumb question. You're correct. It's on the 200m setting.

Then the issue should be the xs akm front sight either mod it so it goes down more I am guessing cutting/grinding the base of the front sight pin to make it work or put back in the old front sight would be the other option.

M92 has flip up "spot" sight that goes in front of normal AK pin sight. Supposedly with glow paint on it, though mine doesn't glow.

I've never really used it, don't like it at all.

edit: never mind the whole thing, I just caught that it's that aftermarket sight you're using.  I didn't grok it glancing at the Burris sight picture or pay enough attention to your parts list, mea culpa.

No further ideas, as obviously that gizmo just ain't simpatico with this shootin' iron.

Nice setup. I'm debating on getting a stamp for mine. My biggest issue will be deciding which stock and what to do with the rear trunion...

I've made several changes to this rifle to address the two issues stated in the original post. Also, a third issue came up where the Manticore Renegade handguard was wobbling and could not be fixed (even by Manticore themselves).

1. Cut off rear sight, replaced with custom 4" picatinny rail, mounted Keltec SU-16B rear peep sight. This raised the rear sight profile and aligned with the front sight (XS). Worked very well. Front sight is in the middle of the adjustment range, so there is plenty of room for adjustment. Rear sight is adjustable for windage only.

2. Replaced B5 Bravo stock with Magpul SL. The Magpul has leaf springs inside which lock it firmly in place. No wiggle at all and fixed the collapse-under-recoil problem.

3. Replaced Manticore Renegade handguard with Midwest Industries quad rail. The new handguard is rock solid. I don't love that it heats up faster than a polymer handguard, but it's liveable. Unfortunately, Midwest Industries doesn't make a top cover compatible with my Burris FastFire. Instead, I had to go with the Aimpoint.

If anyone is interested, I'll post an updated picture.

Round count is about 1,400 now. Running well. I did have trouble with the ALG AKT. It kept doubling and experiencing a hammer-follows-bolt malfunction. After troubleshooting with ALG for a while I returned the trigger. They measured it and said it was out of spec. Apparently they had problems with the first run production (which mine was). So they sent me a new one, but I haven't installed it yet. I've got a G2 installed now and it seems to work well (though not nearly as short or crisp as the ALG).

I also found my rear sight occluded the Aimpoint, so I removed it. I'm thinking of putting together a flip up sight that mounts to the pic rail but lays out of the way behind it when it's folded down so it doesn't block the Aimpoint.

i am pretty sure the m92 specific optic cover is just an extended version of the regular AK top covers. so if you can live with a small gap to the rear of your gas tube, you can run a FF top cover instead of the aimpoint if you still feel like it.

source: am using a standard rail system on my m92 for giggles.

Updated picture. Ran it recently in one day carbine course and a Practical Rifle match. About 1,600 rounds through it. Running great. A friend helped me weld a a safety over travel stop to the top cover. Now the safety position can be confirmed physically through finger pressure without having to look at it and without accidentally over traveling the Safe position. The stop is a small metal ledge which flares out similar to that on the safety itself, so it matches aesthetically. You may not be able to see it in the photo. Still haven't installed the replacement ALG AKT. G2 has worked well. New paint.

Just FYI TWS has an m92 specific hinged rail top cover which will  work with the SU16 removable sight.

Thanks, but I'm already aware. The custom rail I made does the job and cost me only ~ $20 instead of $140.

Anyone know why my image embed above didn't work?
