I saw that you have a PKM cone type flash hider on one of your RPKs. Would you happen to know where I can find one for my Yugo M-72 RPK ?. Also you have a VERY FINE collection there!!,
Best Regards,
Chefgun.

Those are the conical flash hiders that were included with the Chinese Polytech Legend National Match preban rifles.  The member's rifle is one of those preban rifles so it was probably included with his rifle.

Extremely hard to find separately anywhere.

I am thinking for buying an AES-10B but is curious about synthetic furniture kits. I am curious if anyone has attempted to use a Magpul PRS stock on one in place of the wooden one. I know the synthetic kits are hard to find and thinks this would be a neat alternative.

Many, many fine RPKs in this thread.

Here is my humble submission.  First RPK build, from all individually sourced parts.  AKB flat, homemade Mahogany furniture, GM barrel.

Not a great quality pic, but it's all I have for now.

My fresh out of the box AES10B and less than beautiful pics taken with my phone.

I know I broke with arfcom tradition as there is no bare foot showing in any of the pictures but maybe I will take my shoes off when I take some better shots.

Sanded the wood down with a heavy grit, then a medium, and finally to a super fine grit. Stained with Minwax dark mahogany, and finished off with Minwax Poly. Came out with a nice, deep, plum color

Simple para cord job(OD Green)

Rear night sight I picked up from Robert RTG

Front night sight I picked up from Robert RTG

Couple I saw working with Romanians, I got to handle that fullstock model and it made me really want to buy an AES-10B and add full stock to it, even though these are 5.45 I'd still rather have a 7.62x39 because I can use my drums with them

Romanian RPK conversion from an AES-10B. Laminate furniture was finished, correct grip installed, mag well was correctly milled (Century work typically has two critical dimensions they go by: too tight or too loose), CNC Warrior flash hider was installed and it was given a good cleaning. Rifle was missing the bi-pod and bi-pod collar which were added using original Romanian parts including height adjustable bi-pod. Romanian nylon sling and 75 round drum. -Mike

I love all these RPK's! Loved the Romanian in-service, in-theater, with a fold up butt tab. Who has those butt plates in the US? Probably nobody.

lcpl1812, where did you get the PKM butt stock and is it a direct bolt on/screw on?

A few observations/questions.

I have an AES-10B and thought they were a GREAT buy when you could pick them up for well under $700. Looks like that is changing rapidly. I still think they are a great buy even when closing in on 1k. RPD's start at 2+k.  I find the Romanian club butt a bit short, especially for use with a POSP. I found a Mitchell AK butt stock and made some modifications to it. Gives me a much nicer length of pull and eye relief. If I would switch to a red dot, I could go back to the original butt stock.

Does the 7.62x39 cartridge really call for a scope? Can a red dot take you out to the usable range for the 7.62? I have only shot mine at 100 yards, with open sights up to this point.

Mine came with a fixed leg bipod, not the newer style adjustable and it was a little too short at that! I purchased the full length style and had it installed. It now comes right up to the forward hand guard when folded up. I like the extra height too when running 40 round mags on the rifle. But I wish I had one of the adjustable, so may start to shop that for another retrofit.

How can I attach photos to my posts? How many posts does it take to get approval to do so? Thanks for the posts and pics!

The PKM stock has been glued and screwed with a tongue and grove into a bulgy wood stock.  I needed extra length due to the MI 30mm mount and the Vortex 1-4.  From the prone it was just too close.  The gunners spade makes it feel rock solid when shooting from the prone.

All rifle calibers, even 7.62x39 do better with a magnified optic.  Even a red dot is a huge advantage over irons, IMHO.  Aim small, miss small.  I have optics of some kind on all my rifles, with zeroed irons for backup.
