It looks pretty decent, has the spike style flip out bayonet, matching numbers (Stock does not match, the rest does). They're asking 250, but I know very little about SKSs, is this a good buy?

ETA - got it for 233 OTD, I'll upload more pics when I get home from work. From this serial number what can you all tell me about it? Am I correct in thinking it was made in 1966? What's the P at the end mean?

In todays market that is a good deal for a decent condition SKS.

What should I look for as far as making sure it's still shootable? I'm gonna take a round of 7.62x39 with me to check the rifling, and I'll take a light to check the bore. Is there anything else I need to know?

It's a 20 inch barrel if I measured correctly. Just got done stripping it apart, that receiver latch is a bitch to get out.

Here's more pictures. Butt plate is very rusted, probably will replace that. Needs a cleaning kit/rod and I'll probably spend some time polishing that bolt carrier to try and get the pitting out.

Seen it listed on Armslist.  I was tempted to bite, but
have my heart set on an earlier type 56 with the blade
bayonet.

If you have a wet tumbler with stainless steel pins,
put the carrier and bolt in there.  You will be amazed
on how well it will clean up!

Not bad these days.... It needs a factory receiver cover. That year is a 1966.
