My SAR-1 with Romanian laminate palm swell grips. Apparently these are pretty desirable.

My '99 vintage SAR 1,

After the De-Ban

Wanted to make it more compact and I have a thing for Bakelite so, this is the current set up.

I went with a Polish Tantal wire folder, pistol grip is either Polish or Bulgarian and the handguards are Bulgarian. I had to make a spacer for the lower to adapt the tenon from a milled to a stamped receiver. The three prong flash hider came from Damage Industries. Night sites are East German and were previously on there.

Currently I only have four bakelite magazines. Two Tula's (one in BFPU condition and one excellent), one used Izhevsk and an excellent Chinese Norinco. I need to buy some more from SGAmmo while they still have some.

The only other thing I may do is put a Tantal wide forearm on it if I can find one reasonable.

Was an impulse buy, don't know much about it.
Enlighten me please.

2001 SAR-1. Bought new in 2003. About 5k through it. I throw it in mud and snow. It laughs at me. Still can do a pie plate at 100 while smoking. I dunno how. It straight up refuses to die.

Manticore skeleton stock and ace or stormwerkz hinge. I chopped off the rear tang . i will never sell it. 19th bday present.

Love it. Great control. Not blasty. A2 level of flash suppression.

Thanks! Meh, the furniture is okay. It has a metal plate with no storage compartment. Maybe if the furniture was refinished I'd like it a little more. I know that Rob Ski said that the buttstock is the same as the one used on the RAS47, which he broke during his review. I think I'm going to put an Arsenal plum set on it (is that a sacrilege? ).

Done. I didn't try to fit the stock initially and got it jammed pretty tight. It refused to go any further and was a super bitch to remove. After banging on the stock with a rubber mallet on each side of the receiver for about an hour, I was able to get it out. I sanded it and now it fits perfectly. I learned my lesson.

Wasr 10/63 + Arsenal Plum. I don't think I'm gonna do anything else to this rifle.
