I'd love to but the range officers around here are nazis.... 2 seconds between shots.

Looks good but why did you take off a folder and put on a folder?
Can you mount a fixed stock to the adaptor? |

View Quote You can certainly mount a fixed stock to the adapter that has the ACE style mount, but I wanted an adjustable stock(AR style) and I figure I may as well get a folder adapter if need an ACE to AR adapter anyway. |

Wish you would have posted this a couple of weeks ago before I ordered the Krebs. The Krebs is a nice piece, but I doubt twice as nice.
It was a complete kit, screws, locktite, etc. nice instructions.... but that extra $60 makes for pretty expensive hardware. |

Kerb's makes high quality pieces there is no doubt. What Kerb's doesn't do is make you feel like you are getting the best value your money. I was on the fence about buying the kerbs adapter just because I didn't want the block to stick so far back. I have enough money wrapped into this $400 ak in mods to have purchased 2 of them. Still waiting on my Ironwood design lower handguard to make its way to my door step that was ordered nearly 2 months ago now.... Once that makes it here the rifle will be done and it will be time to try to get my hands on a slant cut 7.62x54r Vepr and put the ironwood design dragonov furniture on it. |

Thanks (to you and whoever sent you the PM about it) for posting this. As with most folks, money is a bit tight so every dollar I can save is significant. I'm looking at doing the same thing to an AMD but with the ACE Skeleton stock. I know you have a different stock but does yours lock in the closed position? Also, from your last pic it looks like the button is still there from the original AMD folding stock. Do you use it to open/close the stock or is it just a left over from before?

View Quote This one locks in both the closed and open position. While I still have the original push button/screw, I have it tightened down enough that it no longer will open the block to allow it to fold in the same way the original did. But the block is tight enough I don't think you could fold it open like the original if u wanted to due to the shape and the way it fits in the void. I'm sure you could repace the original button/screw if desired with something that wouldn't protrude the receiver. |

I dropped the krebs adapter in the mill and removed the rail stud and cut it down flush with the front plate to remove all the unnecessary bulk. Then I made an 1/8" plate the same size as the adapter plate and pinned the two together. Drilled and tapped the two 10-32 holes .625" apart and on center and basically ended up with the adapter you are showing here. Guess I coulda saved an hour and just bought this one, but the krebs made a suitable host for the project. One thing that really bothered me about the krebs was that the center mounting holes weren't centered so the fixed stock rides higher than the plate. Just an all-around poor design, but the attachment method to the trunion seems pretty solid.

So after looking for stock adapter options on here another member PM'ed me regarding Bumpski's AMD-65 adaptor block. This block is essentially a AMD-65 to ACE adapter similar to the one Kerbs makes. The difference being that this unit is only extending the receiver minimally and is less than half the cost ($65). Upon opening the package I noticed that this unit had milling marks on the block and is rather raw looking for lack of a better term and that it came with no other hardware for installation. But then again its an adapter not a piece of art. I simply removed the wire stock with a punch(bottom to top) then slid the adapter in place after a slight bit of filing some extra Duracoat off the inside receiver cut so the pin hole on the adapter lined up with the receiver and punched the pin back in place then tightened down the folding stock button/screw until fully tight. This left no wobble on the adapter. Below is the finished product. I would say this is a great way to get an ACE style stock or adapter onto a AMD65 receiver for a smaller chunk of change and a flusher fit than the Kerbs option. They can be found at the following link- http://fostechoutdoors.com/shop/catalog/parts-and-accessories/amd-65-attachment-block-for-bumpski-14.html http://i1107.photobucket.com/albums/h399/halfchrome/20131014_125038_zps232559c0.jpg http://i1107.photobucket.com/albums/h399/halfchrome/20131014_125114_zps061c9454.jpg http://i1107.photobucket.com/albums/h399/halfchrome/20131013_104036_zps6ef9f60a.jpg View Quote What muzzle brake is that? After a week, or two of thought, I finally ordered one. Can't wait to put it on. Thank you for the post. I researched a whole lot on more info and couldn't find anything, so without this post, I wouldn't have found out about the adapter. Thanks again.

OP HELP PLEASE!
Got mine in today, and installed. Somehow, the stock is slanted because the mount is. It is flush on the right side, but sticks up a little on the left. I slid it in by the square piece that fills the space, and feel it pop up right as it seats all of the way in. Not sure why it's doing that, but does yours do that? Any idea why it might be happening? The rear of my trunnion is nice and flush. Thanks. |

Could you post pics? I'm in the process of doing the same to my AMD. I've got my Bumpski adaptor already, waiting to install it once my Ace folder comes in.
Edit to clarify: Joshsquatch, could you post pics? |

Is it possible the screws that you used to install the stock are too long and are pushing the adaptor away from the trunion when you tighten them down all the way? |

I had it bolted directly into the rear trunnion, and it WAS sturdy, but I am sure not as sturdy as this is. I appreciate you sharing. |

I think I see what you are saying now. Looks like if its enough to bother you that you may be able to fix it by drilling the hole on the pivot pin side a bit wider one the ACE adaptor so that side moves back a bit too when you re-install the pin. I guess if I really stare at mine from the stock to the muzzle, the stock might be angled about a 1/8"(or less) to the right at the very back. Nothing really to worry about as I didn't even realize it till now. Idk, maybe yours has more of a angle, hard to tell with the pic you posted. I'll be sure to report back with how the muzzle brake works out.

View Quote In the picture in this thread, no, but before this thread came along, and I didn't know about the adapter, yes. All you have to do is drill two holes in the rear trunnion and tap em. After having it both ways, I'd say the 65 for this part is more than worth it. You'd have to grind the pignose flat, drill and tap the holes, measure it perfectly. If they are off a hair, you're going to have problems. Plus the pin, screw and wedge are harder metals than the trunnion. So when you hit em, other things go wrong, like misalignments. Get the part. You WON'T regret it. |
