I'm contemplating cutting my 107cr down and permanently attaching a cnc 4 piece brake on it. Is that going to create too much back pressure and beat my gun to death.

All of the SBR repots I've come across over the years have stated that cutting down a 16" (415mm) barrel to a mid length barrel (314mm) did not require a gas system mod.
Mods have only been necessary for cutting a 16" barrel down to Krinkov (210mm) length. If I remember correctly, the gas port has to be enlarged a tad bit.

Does anyone know if a 45 degree crown is bad.

I have an SLR107cr that I SBR'd a few years ago. I cut the barrel with a saw and used crowning tools from Brownells to cut the crown. I went with a 90 degree crown and used a 45 degree cutter just to break the edge. I didn't have to do anything at all to the gas system. I have an original Russian cone type muzzle booster on mine. It functions fine with or without the booster mounted.

Very bad.

bullet needs to leave the rifling at 90 degrees.

I miss understood about your crown.  YOu want to use 45 degree crowing tool.

You also need 90 degree tool.

I have alway used 11 degree crown with stellar results.  11 degrees has become standard amoung target shooters for good reason.., very consistant results!
They often recess the crown a bit as well to protect it.
I personally would not go with a 45 degree crown. If you can't wait for an 11 to become available.., a flat 90 would yeild much beter results than a 45!
