Well I finished off the layaway and finally received my Bulgy Ak-74 from Atlantic Firearms and James River.  The BR-74.

First impression was "Beautiful!"  Sights dont look canted to me.  The muzzle break is ever so slightly wobbly, is that normal or is there a way to fix this?

I am overall very impressed with this rifle. And it being my first AK I am happy i spent what i did and received a quality product.

Range day will be Friday down at the closest WMA and then Ill be able to know how well it functions.

And now pics.

muzzle brake wobble is normal and acceptable. If you wish to tighten it up it can be done, but shoot it enough and carbon will do that for you.

Looks good and look forward to range report.

remove the muzzle brake and apply a couple wraps of teflon tape to the threads if the wobble bothers you.

if you can live with it for a bit, as the above poster stated, carbon build-up will take care of it in a short while.

Wobble is normal, should have a retainer pin on the front sight block.

*edit*

I wouldn't wrap the threads in tape, it will prob gum up. If anything, put a light coat of CLP or other protectant/oil on the threads to help keep the carbon broken down.

Am I the only one that thought of "a Christmas story" with the sticker on that box? "Fra-jeelay"

OP, very nice rifle.  I seldom hear complaints about these ak-74 rifles on any of the boards now.

Things are looking up for ak-74 American-made rifles.   I was even able to tune up my Waffen Werks ak-74 rifle that I got from Classic Arms for $599.99 and I have it working lke a Swiss watch now.   I had thought of having it rebuilt on a NoDAk Spud receiver but thait will not be necessay now.

I just followed the youtube post by Civiliansoldier762 titled "How to fix your waffen werks ak-74" and in a couple of hours my Waffen Werks ak-74 rifle was no longer failing to eject spent rounds any longer.

Although your new rifle looks great, I still intend to buy one of the new Waffen Werks ak-74 models built on a milled receiver that Atlantic Arms is selling for $999.00.    I saw one of these fired and they look and function  very well.

Now, hopefully we can all continue to buy some brands of commercial 5.45 ammo since the 7n6 milsurplus stuff has been banned.

Decided im gonna live with the wobble for now unless any keyholing is evident.  Range day is today! Taking the AK and the Mosin out to the local WMA.  Its going to be a nice mostly sunny 75 deegree day.  Range Report late today or tomorrow.

Well we didnt spend as much time out as i would have liked.  the detours they had set up added almost a whole 2hrs round trip to the ride :mad_small

But we did spend about an hour and half out shooting.  Both rifles shot amazingly well. I was surprised the nugget shot as well as it did.

The first two shots in the upper left were the first two out of the AK. Didn't know what to expect really.  But the last three shots i had my breathing under control and took my time seting up the shots.  And BOY was I surprised! I  did the math (google) and found out i was actually 30 meters from the target.*

I also found a mag that just did not want to click in to the rifle. Was a little upset at that. Its a brown circle 21.  It just seemed to not want to fit at all.

some of the Bulgy mags seem to be thicker than others. At least that's been my experience. You can always trade it off in the EE for another.
