What is the best cheap brass 7.62x39? I want to shoot my new AK but there are no outdoor ranges nearby so I am going to the indoor range. The problem is they do the magnet test on all rifle ammo, so I have to buy brass cased ammo with no steel in the bullet. I have seen PPU and Red army Standard, both around $0.50/round. Anything out there for cheaper?

You might be able to find some Yugo M67 for less, but not a whole lot less.

buy the ammo, then reload the brass.

You might find some brass cased surplus like Yugo, SA or Cheetah... But anything current is not going to be cheap.. What range are you going to?

I just ordered some of this, the best current price on Yugo. Corrosive, hot, accurate.

Just be aware that the Yugo milsurp ammo is corrosive.

Wolf Also imports a Copper Jacketed round with no steel in the bullet. It does have a steel case, but not the actual projectile.

It comes in a mostly yellow box.  Wolf Copper Jacket

Hi,

For awhile there was RAS copper jacketed steel cased ammo for around $0.33 a round.  I still see it occasionally, but not more is coming into the US as the plant it was made at was destroyed in the Ukraine.

That's a good deal, normally don't see it cheaper than 50 cents/round by the case and usually about $12/box.

Local deal or online? Per the unwritten rules of this forum if that was an online deal you have to share details...

I just bought a "range pack" of the Red Army Standard "Elite" ammo to try in my 7.62x39 AR.  This is the brass cased, copper jacket, reloadable version.  Is runs just under 50 cents per round at several places.  I got mine from Sportsmans Guide using a coupon for free shipping.  Also got one box of PPU and I already have some Fiocchi and Lapua to try to see how accurate this rifle can be (Palmetto upper).  I have plenty of the real Yugo M67, but don't think I want to shoot corrosive in my AR.

Jesus how does someone in the industry decide that United Nations is a good name for their business? I'm gonna have to stop in there and see the next time I'm in AZ.

Also, soda can launcher on their site, I need one of those! Not sure if I need it $400 bad though. Off to search youtube to see it in action.
