The Walmart by my house has Tula 7.62 x 39 in stock for $5.17 per box. While I know this will help no one else here, I thought you all might be happy for me. Also, I needed something to say for my first post. I just got my first AK-47 (M92 PAP).

Hard to find that even online anymore (before massiv shipping), last I checked. Was there a limit on how many boxes you could buy at once? |

Welcome! $5.17 for local retail is pretty good. Hard to find that even online anymore (before massiv shipping), last I checked. Was there a limit on how many boxes you could buy at once? They currently have a 3 box per day limit so I had to get creative. I had my buddy go back down with me so he could purchase some. Then, I went back later that night at 11:50 and made another purchase. When the clock struck midnight, since it was technically the next day, I bought some more. Ended up with 12 boxes total yesterday. |

I think the cheapest I saw around here was $4.99 a box before the elections (haven't been in the AK game too long). Jumped to $5.49 after the elections, spiked to $6.99 after the shootings and OOS a few weeks after that. Haven't seen since. |

Less than $.50 a round for x39, less than $1 for x54R with shipping, not bad for todays prices of like $.60 and $.70 or even more for just 7.62x39, plus no limits. Surplus Ammo is obviously stealing a page from CTD's "screw the shooter" business model. Hey, I'm just glad they're in stock. I don't constantly check this page, so I don't ever get in the aim surplus or other large outlet's "in stock" times. And as I said before, it is ridiculous prices but when ammo shipments are selling out so fast and they are so far and few between, what other choice is there? Reloading the Russian stuff is a PITA, and even the absurdly expensive brass cased stuff that you can reload is out of stock, too. I've even been seeing 500 round lots going for $300+ ($11-$13 a box) on some areas, even ones that have been linked on previous pages of this thread. I wouldn't exactly spend $500 for 1k rounds, but for the smaller lots, its not as much of a difference. Just checked Ammunitionstore.com, where I got a few boxes of 7.62x39 for around $6 per 20, is now $9 per 20: http://www.ammunitionstore.com/products/7-62x39-ammo-124gr-fmj-wolf-wpa-military-classic-20-round-box.html It's up all around the board for most places. |

Unfortunately, the Tula in a Tin order today at SPG may have been a glitch. A guy in the large ammo thread said he got a call from SPG customer service saying that his order for it was cancelled, and that a computer glitch listed the product as in stock. I haven't gotten the call yet, and my order is still showing as 'in progress'.

Yeah, 'Wolf in a Tin' is what I meant. The FedEx guy is due to deliver my tins tomorrow. Hopefully I can open them without slicing off any fingers or ruining ammo.

I've heard some bad things about Tula (large number of failure to go bang) but the complaints were all from guys using ARs chambered in 7.62x39. I haven't shot any Tula through my AK, just Wolf and Bear. That Midway Tula looks like a good deal depending on shipping. Anyone do the price per round math with their shipping? |
I've never had a problem with Tula through my AK. Wolf and Tula are known to have 'hard' primers, which are not a problem with AK's, but I suspect they may be difficult for AR conversions to ignite.
In an AK, you'll not have a problem with Tula. |
Had 1000 rounds of Tula ordered thru Midway, with confirmed order #, CC charged , then a day later they cancelled order saying their inventory was off. So I am just out of luck.
I ordered that same Tula from Midway earlier this week and it also was cancelled. Luckily I also ordered the Tins of Wolf from Sportsmans Guide - those arrived on Friday.

Heavy for a little thing... I also liked the huge can opener that came with it. |
