[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Galil for first AK build?

I'd like to have a Galil, and I'm interested in trying to build one. How difficult is the Galil to build up on a new receiver?

I'm pretty mechanically inclined, and have done some simple gunsmithing assembly type tasks, but can't weld and don't have a mill or lathe.

Is a Galil build something I could do?

If you have a vice and a few punches/files and know how to rivet... maybe. Im interested to see myself. I want to build the same preferably in 223/556

Not even close. What makes a Galil accurate is the receiver which is solid, the barrel isn't pressed in. It's threaded into the receiver. Either Tenngalil at hillbilly firearms or gunplumber are reputable Galil builders. Not as simple as some make it.
