I just finished building my AR-15 and breaking in the barrel.  I bought a Tipton Max force cleaning rod (yes it's expensive, but since the handle can be moved I can even use it to clean my pistols).  I have some Hoppe's 9 and will be ordering some Sweets 7.62 solvent for copper buildup.  The main thing I need assistance with a jag and patch recommendation.  I have tried to research this and I'm having problems getting good recommendations.  I personally would like a jag that uses either a few thin patches or a thicker patch than a single thin one.

I will be ordering other stuff such as a bore guide, brush's, etc.  I just need the jag and patch information, but I do welcome other input and recommendations for bore brush and any other information.

Thanks for the help.  This is hands down the best forum I've found with helpful people.  I'm so glad I found it and joined.

Get a Pro Shot jag and cotton flannel patches. I've been using them for years with no problems.

as many people as you could ask will result in as many different ways to do things.
this is what has been working for me:

Ed's Red (I leave out the acetone unless cleaning my shotgun)

the Ed's Red works well for soaking BCG (overnight works well for me)

the bore tech is on sale at midway right now and add a $1.58 ball cap

(and knock down the shipping a lot.)

hope that helps ( and gets the discussion going)

These are what I use.  I use the ProShot rods too.

Edit: for all .22, .223, and 5.56mm I use ProShot's .17-.22 Cal. Rimfire 3/4" Square
