Castrol?  Mobil-1?  What's the best weight for the Southeast?

It's not that big of a consideration IMO.
Any oil will do for general use. It is all designed for high temp moving parts.
I have lately been using axle type grease on firearms.
It's designed for high temp moving parts and will not flow or evaporate.
Your firearm is a machine, don't over think it.

I've been using Mobil-1 15w-50 for the last 3 yrs or so.  It's original purpose was hydraulic fluid for my zero turn mower.
Works really well.  It has great longevity through high round counts.

I use Mobil 1 0w-40 "European Formula", it's a true synthetic and not a blend.

I like CLPs designed for guns. I use Fireclean with great results.

I too prefer lubricants designed for firearm use. I have been using Slip2000 EWL, but want to try Fireclean.

Gun oil for guns, motor oil for cars. but to answer you question, Mobil one seems to be prevalent around here. I would use 5-20.

I tried some synthetic motor oils and just didn't like the feel the oil had after sitting on the gun in the safe for extended periods.

Whatever oil you got, a piston in a car engine can cycle up and down anywhere from 1000 to 7000 times in a minute, does it really matter?

I use mobil 1.  I would suggest any current production synthetic would work.  My cheap buddy uses walmart synthetic with the same results I get with my mobil 1.  We were recently in the same cqb class together.   Both our bolts made it through with 1 initial oiling.  Your climate may effect the best viscosity, but I bet all of them are plenty good for keeping a bcg lubricated.
