Okay Guys,

Have looked around and done a fair amount of reading and it seems I need some tools, even though I have a full tools box.

I am wanting to get some basic tools to work on my new AR from Spikes and ithas only had a few hundred rounds thru it but it appears that to say change my M4 handguard to a freefloat tube i need tools so this is what I have come up with so far:

Punch set (already have)
small ball pein hammer (already have)
channel locks, pliers etc.. (have)
Bench vice (very small but have)
Mag vice block (coming)
Upper link connector (coming)

Need ?
Wrench
Handguard tool
Sight block
Vice block
Claw

The only things in the "need" column I've ever needed were the vise block and a  Wrench.

My plan as it stands is to get very familair with the AR platform and collect some basic tools during this year and also work up a load to crank out ammo then buy a stripped lower and go from there, not sure if I will have the skill to put a barrel on a stripped upper but may attempt to do so and I feel putting one together is a really good way to learn.

Sounds like a good plan and you will learn a lot and I'm sure you will be able to handle it. Assembling an AR isn't rocket science and pretty stright forward. Watch out for flying detents and springs. Have extras around for when you lose one.
