My left handed friends right side eject no shell deflector upper is ejecting shells into his face...anyone have any ideas how to change the ejecting pattern a bit farther forward?

It's a 16" midlength crosshill upper.

There are clip-on "brunton bump" shell deflectors available.

Find one of the old A1 type brass deflectors that used to snap in place on the carry handle. Gunbroker, Ebay, etc...hard to find.

Wedge a stripper clip between the carry handle and rear edge of the ejection port opening. Brass strikes the stripper clip and is deflected forward.

Insert a couple of quarters inside the buffer tube, behind the buffer spring. May change the ejection timing to slightly sooner and cause the brass to be thrown clear earlier, missing the face.

Replace upper with one that has a brass deflector. Replace upper with Stag Arm lefty kit.

Do you have the 'O' ring under your extractor, if so remove it, and if you don't have one install one.

That could change the direction of your ejected shells.

I'm lefthanded and have upper receiver bump but still get hit on right shoulder from time to time with my 16" - cases land at 4:00. M193 velocities land about 2:00.

Why does your left handed friend have an upper without the deflector?  This is why the deflector exists.

What is the gas system/barrel configuration?

There used to be a plastic deflector that had a ball bearing detent at the top that snapped into the hole on the charging handle, that was used with A1 uppers.  Can't find them for sale online anywhere with a quick search.

See original post.

It's a 16" midlength.

Why he has it is beside the point haha. I appreciate the suggestions I will try the O ring.

Consider getting a brass catcher.

UPDATE

H buffer and spikes h2 buffer did nothing (same with quarters in the tube) but we took the Oring off and now with BRASS case full power ammo its ejecting them straight out and not into my friends face!

With tula crap it was hitting him right in the mouth still but he mainly shoots brass anyways (now I shoot a lot of steel haha).

Thanks guys!
