Tried something new (to me).
Magpul FDE and krylon ultra flat odg paint on black magpul set.

I held each about a foot and a half from the object and used a few quick sprays from each can. I held the cans straight up so the would splatter/ blob onto each piece and give them some added texture.

I think it turned out pretty cool.

Light kinda sucks for pics so I didn't break out the camera. May try to get some better shots tomorrow.

I don't know man. To each his own and all, but it just looks like you ran out of paint. The sl handgaurd does looks nice on a carry handle 14.5 upper . Fills the distance nicely and looks handsome.

I was kinda going for that look. Plus, this is a shooter.. So the paint is gonna be blown up soon enough anyway. I'm planning on taking a few carbine courses this fall with it.

It looks a bit better in person, I'll try and get some sunlight shots in the morning. Also, I didn't think I was going to like the SLR on this rifle, but it locks up rock solid and feels just right on it.

Thanks.

I've done similar with an older Bushmaster.
It looks to me as if you need some layering.  Mix some lighter overtones with what you have.
Then again, completely depends on your intentions and AO.

I did try and stick in some lighter tones.
Here's a little better pic.

You can always spray it back to black.

All of my guns are rattle canned.

Whats cool is to do a bunch of light/dark layers and then as the rifle gets handled the layers emerge in different points of contact on the gun.

Several folks thought I'd lost my mind when I sprayed my transferable M16.

It's just paint. Comes off with Xylene and a rag.

Good job OP! Why stop with  just the furniture?!?! Close the dust cover, fill the mag well with paper towels and paint the whole damned thing!

Ehh... The receivers have a nice smooth worn almost gray look that doesn't come across in the pics. They match color-wise almost perfectly.. I couldn't bring myself to cover them up.
Eta: my 9mm ar is completely rattle bombed.

Looks good to me... the only other gun I had the guts to spray paint out of a rattle can was a Hi-Point, so kudos for that.

I think as it gets bumped around, handled, worn in a bit, it'll have a rough and serious type of patina to it.  Not a safe-queen finish at all.  You'll tell its a shooter for sure.
