What is the torque for the castle nut? I have seen 40 in-lb and 40 ft-lb. Plus do I need to grease the buffer tube threads? I have the YHM diamond handguard.  I will be using a tapco armorers wrench to install it. I did not get the YHM wrench. Do I need to season the threads or put it on one time and leave it? I know to go to 30 ft-lb then no more the 80 ft-lb to align the gas tube hole. I do have some areoshell 33 for the barrel. Also how should the wrench be in respect to the torque wrench?

http://coltcanada.com/assets/10044s-2005-09-20.pdf  pages 3-2-41 and 42 for the stock info. The TM manual say grease I think for the threads.

The TM is available on this site.
Follow the instructions in the TM.

The TM on this site is the older version with the incorrect information on the castle nut. That is why I posted a link to the Colt manual.

Thank you for the info. This will help. I will reread it again. I did not see about grease for the castle nut.

Using grease on the threads comes out of this TM http://www.ar15.com/content/webPDF/TM9-1005-319-23.pdf page 3-81.1 but the torque value is incorrect in this older version for the castle nut. It was corrected in the newer one which is not available.

Here is the newer TM. > Link edited out.

Even the carrier key screws have a new torque spec.

Not sure linking to it is a good idea? The first pages of the new TM states it is still a restricted document unlike the old version that states ok for public distribution.

Thank you. That helps to answer the questions. I have the aeroshell 33 I can use. I did put the buffer together but only hand tight. I will get it all set up right this week. Yes I will stake it.
