49.99 lower? Their website only listed the 75.00 that I found.

They are pretty damn nice for a $50 you really cant go wrong. I was damn well pleased with mine and probably will buy a couple more for the kids builds later on......
Minor update... Ships out and should be here 28th. Little earlier than expected. Should have some range time with it next weekend and an unpack photoshoot hopefully next tuesday
I bought a few also...one note: some people have found the bolt catch pin hole to not be drilled. Make sure you inspect before you go home. This is not a PSA issue, but an Anderson issue.

All fit well the Blackhawk grip is comfortable but the grip plug is a pos and falls out easily. Would not use for storage. View Quote That's why they have that piece of paper in there that says teh grip is not to be used for storage. |

That's why they have that piece of paper in there that says teh grip is not to be used for storage. Beat me to it. I laughed when I read this recommendation from OP...as there is a piece of paper that says exactly that in the grip. I doubt I will be using the grip that came with the kit, but couldn't resist the $29.99 price on the PSA lpk. |
mine had the paper too. I read it ignored it and tested it myself. I am not sure if I will lightly glue it in place or just toss the plug into the parts bin

UPS just dropped off a box
I don't know what is in the box yet.... Really shouldn't open it up at the office |

Looks great. I like the Anderson lowers myself. Just bought another Friday. That PTAC upper looks nice. Get us a range report after you shoot. Enjoy

I have pretty close to the same set up. $50 PSA Blem lower, $80 PSA Lower Build kit, and just received $279 PTAC 1/7 upper w/BCG. Very happy with the quality of the PTAC upper. Completely different than the previous horror stories about barrel issues. Also rechecked headspace and looks gtg. Have not shot it, but looks just as good as the premium uppers from PSA. For the money invested, I am very happy with this rifle. Would not hesitate to build another one or two after tax refund comes in.
I built an inexpensive rifle like yours. Just running open sights but the PTAC upper functions perfectly with XM193 and Tula. I am totally satisfied.
Looks nice. Bet you cant build an AK for that price these days.
can we get a pic after a heavy initial cleaning of the chamber/bore?
They got a PTAC extremely cheap right now, but I'm shying away because of the issues some people have had with terrible chambers/bores. |

I have not forgotten about this but, time has been a scarce commodity recently.

I finally got around to test firing my PTAC upper with Anderson lower & PTAC LPK. I didn't have a lot of time so I just stuck on a cut down A2 carry handle sight and zeroed it at 25 yards, then moved to 50 yards and shot a quick 3 shot group. At 50 yards it printed probably 1.5 - 2". I didn't bother to measure it because I was just basically function checking and I was just using a backpack as a rest, but it appear this gun should have acceptable accuracy. It's not a gun I would trust my life to, but for $400 and change I think it's a good value for a range toy, or if someone wanted to keep a gun in the truck for coyotes. |
Well I got to fire it today. 5 shots only though.
It did not blow up it did not run full auto. It cycled Herters 55 grain steel case just fine. It gave an initial clp smoke screen on the first shot |
Yes with a horrible red dot err red smear is more like it. Gonna reshoot with crosshairs.

So glad to see this write up. I am doing the exact build. I bought the ptac upper and a psa 20" 6.8 upper monday week ago. Love their prices, hate their shipping. With all this snow and ice I might get my uppers by march 1st.These will be my first two builds and I'm so pumped I can't stand it. I'm anxious to see how yours groups with crosshairs.
Waiting on ice to clear for PSA, too... CS told me "friday at the latest" on Monday... That was before Snowpocolypse 2014...
How often does that PSA lower kit go on sale for $80? Just got my tax refund and excited to start my first build. Given the shipping delays that everyone is talking about, trying to figure out if its worth waiting for the price to drop $30.

UPDATE 3-16-14 Got to the range and was able to get 5, 5 shot groups of in realative peace. (only 2 people doing constant mag dumps next to me) presented in order shot at 25 yrd with 4.5 power scope and 55 grain tula: https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-5sXWkNdmyRI/UyYzyj9uyCI/AAAAAAAAAiw/8ZXlOY4wCmU/w640-h478-no/2014-03-16 As of 200 some odd rounds not one ftf, fail to fire, or fail to eject. trigger seems to get better with age, or maybe i am just getting used to it. overall impressed. might make it a dedicated steel cae ammo training gun. View Quote That's pretty solid. For the price you paid, seems like you got a pretty good deal and you can use it to shoot your cheap ammo and plink with. As long as it's not your one and only firearm, I don't see a problem with it. Now you have me thinking about a $435 rifle... |

I figure for the cost, i wont mind it getting bumped around in tactical classes etc. low cost does not mean cheap. like i said no ftf or fte or fail to fire. it can clover leaf 5 at 25yrd so that is good enough for my purposes. and the larget was about 2 inch at 25 yard. still more than good enough for running and gunning. prairie dogs? nope, |

So no range time today. Instead, went to Cabela's and re-upped my NRA and got a $25 gift card X2 (signed up the Mrs. too) So I got an mbus, short rail and light mount for a streamlight. I also installed a value priced red dot sight i have had for several years... Yeah I know it no longer is a $435 rifle... My name is 4bangin, and I have BRD. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Ob_YWGnGiRQ/Uvausl485kI/AAAAAAAAAgk/gT-7zktE6hQ/w699-h522-no/2014-02-08 https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-0QP8ziX5K04/Uvauw7OOVaI/AAAAAAAAAgs/pDBYeu2LsKg/w699-h522-no/2014-02-08 https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-8-zuNAjW68g/Uvau00wlMUI/AAAAAAAAAg0/insohZL2e6Q/w699-h522-no/2014-02-08 https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-rXc6GuqLEjc/Uvau68ftcWI/AAAAAAAAAg8/rNYTA6RI19A/w699-h522-no/2014-02-08 View Quote May I ask, how did you get that rail to attach with that handguard? Drill? small children, and women cover your ears....... I grabbed my channel locks and angle cutters. I cut down the front two little black nubs that hold the heat shield on to the hand guard. I then pulled back on the heat shield to release it from the plastic. ( I had to get the flat nuts under the heat shield.) I inserted the flat nuts and then threaded the bolts through the MOE short rail piece and slid it forward in the vent holes to get it far forward on the hand guard. After I took the picture I flipped the rail around to get it closer to the FSB.( bolt holes on rail are offset and flipping put more rail closer to FSB) I then bent the heat shield back in place for the most part. This was on an older narrow heat shield channel hand guards with short std moe bolts. New hand guards with little longer bolts work a little better. |
