Dad, Can I have a Pink AR15 for my Bday?"
My answer (of course) was "Yes". Um, I've never built an AR before. Where do I start looking for pink parts? Does anyone make lowers/uppers that are pink or is this a coating project? Do I really want to build a pink gun? Pretty much everything she owns is pink (and always has been). The color thing isn't a fad with her. I suppose it could always be recoated later if she does, in fact, change her mind. |

I can't help you much on pink parts, but I can comment about the pink...............don't expect her to outgrow it. My wife is 42, and she's still a "pink freak". She has pink grips on her EDC .38 S&W Centennial.
I think its cool that she asked you for that for her b-day tho'. |

I have little love for pink firearms myself - and this is coming from someone whose old arfcom avatar was a My Little Pony with a BFL on it!
but that being said... I'm glad she's interested in firearms at least. Hope it turns out well! And post pics of the end results of course |

As I mentioned, this will be my first build. I impulse bought a couple of the PSA LPK (with a free mag) several months ago. The box is somewhere here in my office.
So I guess it's off to PSA again to find a lower (blem?) and upper. |

You gotta do it.
You may not get this chance again and she and you will remember it for a lifetime. Do it ! |

I've been looking for a pink magpul more handguard but can't find one from any retailer. I Dont think magpul is making them anymore.

Do you like painting? I personally don't care much for the look of black receivers with pink furniture, although the A2 posted in this thread doesn't look bad. I've seen some pictures on this site of two-tone paint jobs that are really nice looking.

primary arms. in stock and great people.

DSGArms has some good pink mags.http://dsgarms.com/productinfo/ma-02dsgp.aspx

SunDevil does matched upper/lowers that are pink anodized (or just about any other color). But they are a bit pricy. Some folks just go the rattle-can approach for the upper and lower. You might even be able to get closer to the color of the pink furniture if you go the rattle-can route.

My favorite "pink" I have viewed is this one:
Nevermind, I don't know how to attach an image in a thread. Maybe other have viewed it. It is has a titanium look to it with a pink barrel. It looks very classy and not like a pink airsoft toy in my opinion. |

My $.02...Duracoat the lower, upper and barrel pink and get a pink stock and grip. Keep the parts all black for contrast. I can't wait to hear my daughter say that to me someday! She's only 8 now. |

That's awesome! I'm building a dedicated .22 AR for the kids. I plan on getting all MOE furniture in foliage, then dying it in a custom green and blue digital camo scheme. In my head it looks badass...hope the execution isn't an epic fail.

Thanks to you good folks, I found a MOE stock and grip in pink at primary arms and a fellow member had a pink handguard (will be my first EE transaction)
Now I just need a lower. I guess I'll grab one of those PSA Black Friday deals. I'll have pics up as soon as everything gets here. Thanks y'all! |

IMO, don't go over the top. This is my favorite out of the pinks. By Medicfrost http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v14/Medicfrost/DSC03957.jpg View Quote I'm just gonna go with pink furniture and keep everything else black. The filing in of the roll marks is cool. I assume there's a thread somewhere here explaining how to do this? |

Use a little butane torch and a crayon. That's how I did my Mega receivers. It only takes a few seconds to fill in a rollmark. http://i.imgur.com/31VfAt2l.jpg?1 The extra crap around the edges cleans up with a little oil and a rag. I used Testors Model paint. Get some of the little applicators, smaller than a q-tip and synthetic (I got a pack of 10 at my local hobby shop for about $3) and dab the paint over the lettering. Let dry for about 30 minutes then take a clean paper towel or cleaning pad you would use on your bore and wrap around finger and dip with paint thinner. Rub once, move to a new spot on towel, do it again until the paint outside the lettering is off. I do this to all my magazines. Any questions, feel free to pm me. Check out YouTube as well. Plenty of how to's there. Take a look... |

The video above is hydro dipping. It does well.
Another thing you may add to the build is get a custom dust cover made for it for like 20.00 you could get it to say daddy's girl or something when it kicks open. A little corny but something to specialize it may make it more meaningful when she looks back on it. I'm wanting to build one for my little cousins and for my grandpa. Good luck! |

You're doing something right if she wants guns for her birthday!
