Yes it is from MrM1A1... It's on a DD CHF light weight profile I bought 1 also. works pretty well. How much did you pay? I may pick one up and totally revamp this upper. (or just build a second one for it. ) |

The M60 bipod mount for an AR15. My choice of mounts to the rifle were barrel mount, bayonet lug mount or rail mount. I didn't want the barrel mount. The first one I made was for a bayonet lug (I wanted to be able to take the bipod off and put it on quickly and easily) and it started with an adapter from Versa Pod #150-101. http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/qq335/ipipe4u/150-101_zps8f505a80.jpg The next ones I made were for a free float rail mount and they start with one of these two adapters. Versa Pod #150-611 and #150-621 The center rods are welded. http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/qq335/ipipe4u/150-6112_zpscd7f1f98.jpg http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/qq335/ipipe4u/150-621_zps7c919372.jpg A bushing had to be made to fit in the bipod and to receive the Versa mounts. Here is a photo of the bushing. It's round stock turned down with a small flange on one end, and a hole in the opposite end. It is cross-drilled for a roll pin to hold the mount into the bushing and also holds everything to the bipod in place. http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/qq335/ipipe4u/WILLIAM-PC/M60%20Adapter/1226031213b_zps02f0b56f.jpg http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/qq335/ipipe4u/WILLIAM-PC/M60%20Adapter/1226031213a_zpsaba904a7.jpg The Versa adapter was modified by removing the stop cant pin,, and cut, shortened to fit inside the bushing and cross drilled for the roll pin. http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/qq335/ipipe4u/WILLIAM-PC/M60%20Adapter/1222030906azzz_zps4039763c.jpg http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/qq335/ipipe4u/WILLIAM-PC/M60%20Adapter/1222030906b_zps802d6708.jpg Here's the three parts needed to mount the M60 bipod. http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/qq335/ipipe4u/WILLIAM-PC/M60%20Adapter/1226031212_zpsa6413c1d.jpg When you put it all together it looks like this. http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/qq335/ipipe4u/WILLIAM-PC/M60%20Adapter/1222030903z_zps6335fbc2.jpg http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/qq335/ipipe4u/WILLIAM-PC/M60%20Adapter/1222030905zzz_zps9578fabd.jpg I will edit in some dimensions a little later. good day,
well after figuring out the look I wanted to achieve and getting all the parts, here is my version of an M60 bipod on a AR15 I just need to replace the gas tube and it should be good to go. The handguard actually prevent the bipod to rotate when in folded position. When deployed the rifle can rotate freely either way. Im hopping this will help reloading when in prone position. https://scontent-b-sea.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/t1/1604441_751515818211125_684354298_n.jpg https://scontent-b-sea.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-frc3/t1/1609885_751516274877746_2094431678_n.jpg |

Skillets: Nice work, reminds me of the M60 MG I carried for a while in the 2/28 Inf. It was a heavy mutha, a bit more than the BAR it replaced, but less weight than the .30 cal Browning which it also replaced. By the time you add in the M60's tripod, spare barrel and ammo, it was a heavy load for 3 people. All my M60 shooting was from the tripod with 5and1 tracers. It was like aiming a water hose, guaranteed to bring mucho hurt on anyone within direct fire range, .
Interestingly, the M60's rate of fire was considerably slower than what your video shows with the Slidefire setup on your AR. Its was also slower than the old .30 cal Brownings we started with, something the Korean War vets complained about. In old school infantry/armor tactics, you want the ability to put multiple bursts of 5 downrange as quickly as possible. The enemy doesn't sit still when the bullet start flying. The current issue SAW is about right, in that regard. - CW |

That's awesome! Damn... I think I know my next build. What's being done to prevent gas tube overheat? Nothing really.... I have considered running a piston or looking into a different gas tube for real machine guns. But for now, I mostly just use the "rhythm method"—as in shooting at a sustained or rapid rate. The magazine changes allow for some cooling as well. |

I had previously estimated the average rate of fire at around ~650 rounds per minute... Put it on a shot timer and had a 16 round burst with all of the splits between 0.05 and 0.06.... That's a RoF of around 1100rpm (I also had some major issues regarding my FCG and I think it was just too damn fast....) |

Was it already asked in here if a harris style bipod was attempted and if so, why the op decided against it? View Quote A few reasons: for starters, there is no slack in my sets of Haris bipods. The slack facilities a proper back and forth bumpfire action. Second, the ones I have don't get the gun off the ground far enough with bigger magazines. Finally...they look cool |
