I currently have the factory hand guards, if I need to replace them to mount the TLR-1, I want drop-in's. My solution so far is to replace the factory hand guards with:

Magpul MOE® M-LOK® carbine length hand guards.

https://www.magpul.com/products/moe-...length-ar15-m4

Install a Magpul M-LOK® CANTILEVER RAIL/LIGHT MOUNT, ALUMINUM at the 10 o'clock position. I am right handed.

https://www.magpul.com/products/m-lo...mount-aluminum

Install a Magpul M-LOK® ALUMINUM RAIL, 9 SLOT at the 2 o'clock position.

https://www.magpul.com/products/m-lo...m-rail-9-slots

To mount a TLR-1 long gun remote pressure switch kit.

http://streamlight.com/docs/default-...a-Sheet_15.pdf

I want the pressure switch for the momentary and "locked off" position to prevent accidental actuation. I would zip tie down any excess wire.

Does this solution seem optimal or are the better solutions out there?

Thanks.

If you are happy with the current hand guard, I would just mount a small Picatinny rail to the hand guard and mount the light to that.  I have TLRs mounted to various long guns in various manners using the small rail.

Best solution is a Kley Zion front sight mount from botach tactical. It solidly attaches to the front sight post at the 12:00 position and works with carbines, midlength as well as rifle length uppers.
