You'd think Surefire or Streamlight would have some sort of slip-on rubber cover available to protect weapon light lenses from muzzle blast/soot during training or plinking. I found some covers at work that are used to protect cable terminals on new servo motors, and they slip tightly onto my Streamlight Protac rail mount, but are just a tad too small for my Surefire G2X.
I know about the vaseline trick, and that the soot can sort of be cleaned off with toothpaste, but it'd be nice if there were some simple covers available to protect the lens from getting dirty in the first place.
I've tried searching the net for such an item, but haven't had any luck. Does such a thing exist in the commercial market anywhere?
