No handhelds were issued. I used my petzl headlamp 90% of the time. Had my surefire g2 go missing day 3 into my deployment.

So the military does not issue handheld lights anymore?
I know they get issued CSWL (Crew Served Weapon Lights). I'm just asking because I do own a Streamlight Sidewinder and its MIL-SPEC rated. I just wonder if those were ever used by the military at some point. |

Ok, I'll bite. What the fuck is a "crew served weapon light?" FWIW, my unit issued me a piece of shit handheld Pelican flashlight. I've never used it.

AFAIK, there hasn't been a "standard" military handheld flashlight since the old angle-headed flashlights - but a lot of units have purchased various different models for issue, including, but not limited to Pelicans, Streamlights, Surefires, etc. Between personally purchased lights and unit issued ones, I don't think you're going to see/find a lot of standardization above individual units. Same goes for things like head-lamps, helmet lights, etc. ~Augee |

I was issued that Surefire that mounts to your helmet but that's about it outside of a weapon light(s).

I was issued varies lights on deployments 2004-2008. Pentagon weapons light with a ir piggie back, surefire scout, surefire helmet light, and varies surefire handhelds.

Now that I think about it. I had a first light tomahawk for awhile but I had to give it back.
