I have a streamlight protac HL and I really love the light. Small, sturdy, bright as you could ask for.

I am new to weapon lights and I have recently mounted my protac HL on my AR. I haven't shot with it on yet, but it occurred to me today that I should make sure the light is strong enough to stand up to the (relatively mild) recoil of an ar15. I assumed because it is a small tactical light that it would be designed with weapon use in mind. Am I correct in this assumption?

If it's designed to handle pistol recoil then it will be fine with AR recoil.

It's a hand held light.

Correct. Handheld. I guess I'll just go ahead and see if it holds up. I have no doubts that it will. I love streamlights

A buddy has one on his rifle and it works.   His is a duty gun that's shot frequently.  I didn't see anything in their site about it being weapon rated or not though.  I'm sure for 556 it'll be fine.

I own one, but I use it as a handheld. It's the best value that I have found. It emits a ton of light, and easily illuminates a whole room indoors. It's great for camping or offroading in the dark too.

I've dropped mime a few times, and other than some dings and dents, it's held up fine.
