I have one set up like this on a spare parts beater AR. I like the minimalist design but IMO it's way too thin for regular use.

Personally I wouldn't wrap a nylon cord around the gas block such as in the first picture. Would be a potential melting point if you got into a rapid fire sesson.

It gave me pause at first also but the IDF has been attaching slings to FSBs for years using 550 cord and I don't see how this is any different. Admittedly, I can't say from personal experience that it won't melt as I rarely shoot this rifle since it was mostly just a way to get rid of spare parts. However, I've got a BFG universal wire loop that I can use instead if it becomes an issue. |

I would use something like this in your situation. Far less likely to melt than 550 cord.
