Pretty easy to install without messing anything up, but they will put some wear on the barrel after you use it for a while, if that bothers you.
Once you got it in your hands, you'd figure out how to install it. Put the two halves together on the barrel, then put the roll pins in. It's a tight fit, but not impossible for anyone with a modicum of hand tool skills. I've used several on various rifles and like them...No issues with the roll pins. |

Leather faced vice grip type pliers to hold the pieces against the barrel and a roll pin starter punch makes installation downright easy.
They aren't hard at all to install, they just look like they are. This is factory Colt in the wrapper, 
and the installed product, 
I don't know of one of these failing in use because of roll pins or anything else not related to battle damage or excessive wear and tear. |

I have a GG&G 'Slicthing' and it works great- swivel on one side and rail on the other......also a piece of cake to install!

.........and while we're yakking about front sling swivels - what's the easiest way to remove a now superfluous standard one? - drill, big hammer, hacksaw?

They are pretty easy to install. Although an extra set of hands can be useful.

I've used vice-grips covered with electrician's tape to press them in.

My Colt 6920 came with that mount. I knocked the bottom pin out, mount came right off, oiled it up, and put it on "lefty", and hammered the pin back in. Just need gentel but sharp taps to knock it out. I just stood the rifle upright with the stock on carpet.
I used the 3/32 punch I use for my Glocks. (Same hammer I use for my Glocks as well.  ) The punch is a little small but works.

Can you get one of these for under $30?
I bought a used GG&G QD sling thing in the EE. It don't fit. The bolts aren't long enough or the pieces are too big. I don't get it. |

I want to put one of these side mount sling swivels on my rifle too.Does anybody know if my Magpul MOE handguard will be in the way preventing installation?I ask because the front of the handguard flares out forward just past the rear mount of the front sight base into where the side mount goes on the barrel.

so what about these sorts?
Im doing side mount on mine, but I have a light where the GI version would go. So I'm thinking about putting it on the sight. Any concerns about strength or stress on the sight? Doesnt seem to have much more leverage on the sight than the current bottom mount. thanks |

It looks like you can use it for both .625 and .750. I'll bet it's Pro Mag. |

Mine are snug both on .625 and .750 barrels. I don't think they're Promag, they look milsurp.

I just ordered one also, lets hope it fits snug on my fnmi 20 inch barrel....ive been trying to figure out an economical way to mount a sling for a lefty on this rifle.

I fixed my loose mount by removing it and applying pressure near the edges on both sides with taped vise grips at the points indicated by the arrows (I kept the two halves together while doing this). I checked the fit on the barrel and adjusted the vice grips a bit tighter each time until it fit really snug on the barrel. Now it doesn't move at all.

Mine fit pretty loose, I tried bending them and it didn't help. All it did was put some scratches on my barrel. Buyer beware...
