I'm not sure if anyone makes new M4 bayonets (for the M1 Carbine).
If you want an M9 bayonet for the AR-15/M-4, Lan-Cay sells them.
Lan-Cay M9s are issued equipment and the quality is superb.

You can either choose a retailer from:

www.lancay.com/

www.ontarioknife.com/milissue.html

or you can search eBay for great deals.  You also find the original Buck and Phrobis M9s there.

I enjoy collecting the LanCays myself.

Bayonet wont fit on a M4, too much distance betweem muzzle and the FSB, unless you get the midlevel barrel, IIRC, with the FSB moved closer to the muzzle.

Unless they have an extention of some sort that I haven't run across yet.

But not on the 16" barrel, unfortunately.

It will attach, but will be rattling on the barrel behind the flash supressor.

What's dried on the knife (top photo)?!?!?!  Looks like dried blood!

grease and oil.

Good old M7

Theres also the M10 bayonet.  USMC and Army Airborne bayonet.

Imho, the M7 looks like a knife, and nothing more.  Good for sticking people, nothing else.

The M8 makes a nice utility knife, but not so handy as a fighting knife.

M10 is an great fighting knife, but not so useful as a utility knife.

I will say other than the size of the muzzle ring a bayonet for the M1 carbine and M16 has the same locling mechanism.Lancay has the best selection and now with parts upgrades you can turn your M9 into a knife and vice versa.

An M-4 has a 14.5" barrel and will work fine with an issue bayonet.  Anything else isn't an M-4.

On top of the pic is my Ontario OKC3S U.S. Marine Corps multi-purpose official issue bayonet, they also have an armor piercing Tanto blade version that has been sharpened along 3 edges that is designed for extreme penetration (the bayonets at the bottom are my old M7 Eickhorn-Solingen & Imperial brand)

The U.S. Army version is the Ontario M-10 with coyote brown handle & sheath color which replaces the older M9 bayonet.
