So, I've decided to upgrade my small Bushnell dot I have on my 16" ar15 for a mepro trudot rds or an aimpoint. I've been impressed with the ap, but I like the "window" of the mepro sight. No retailer had a demo mepro for me to handle so I feel like I'm in the dark as far as to getting an adequate idea of it's dimensions and features. I would think of it similar to an eotech. I've thrown eotech out due to various failures I've read about and other issues with the company....
Anyone have any experience with the mepro? If so, what do you like, don't like and has anyone had to chance to use it with a magnifier? Thanks for your responses in advance! |

I'm at 1400 rounds with my mepro now. Zeroed in 3 shots, its held it's zero the entire time as well. I had a PRO before the mepro, sold it to a good friend down the street to try out the mepro, I don't miss the aimpoint. Feel free to ask me anything specific.

How durable do you think it is vs other optics in the same class? Either through experience dropping it or the magical "feel" of the optic some people refer to. Also, good place to buy?

View Quote It's my understanding that the Mepro has passed all IDF tests like its M5 military version, but only time will tell if there are any hidden flaws. I do like that the lens is a single solid prism and not one or more thin pieces. I have personal experience w/4 of the Mepros w/appx 2K rds total and so far couldn't be more pleased w/the optic. In light of the features it offers for $379, IMHO it has little competition at that pricepoint: http://www.7-62precision.com/mepro-tru-dot-rds-red-dot-sight-with-1-8-moa-red-dot/ Tomac |

But say the unexpected happens (like always) and I need to contact mepro about it... or mako... how is their service and how firm do they stand behind their product? |

Mako is a site sponsor here and I am sure they will take care of you.
Just my two cents, this is a risk you take with any product you buy. |

If it were me, deciding factor would be co-witness. Mepro is 1/3 only, versus the PRO which can do absolute. If 1/3 is what you want, I personally think the Mepro is the better value.

my aimpoint pro and eotech xps2 are not going anywhere I like them both , but I like variety and may consider the mepro for a project I have on hold right now . I have some reading to do.

To those that have experience with the Mepro, are there any issues with the limited brightness settings? I have an PRO currently and find the brightness settings allow me to get the brightness just where I want it depending on the situation. I had a SPARC in the past that I wasn't too pleased with the settings, I found it to be either too bright or too dim. I see that the Mepro only has 4 brightness settings and I believe at least one of them is for NV which leaves 3 or less settings for normal use. Is the lack of settings a negative for you?
I am very interested in this sight, it seems like a good product for a good price... |

I have an Aimpoint PRO and I really like it a lot, but if I were currently in the market, I would be looking hard at the Mepro.

You may want to wait until the details are announced for the Black Friday Sale.....you will like what you see. Aim Point makes a good product but I'm impressed with the quality of the RDS and the durability. Although I'm now associated with The Mako Group, I've used Meprolight products in the past and they performed well. One thing for certain, their products are battle tested. Since becoming a country, Israel has been in several wars and continual conflict. Many of the products distributed by The Mako Group were designed to meet specific needs within the IDF. You can't beat that for a proving ground.

I've had my mepro since early october so I haven't had it outside on a super bright sunny day yet, but with snow on the ground and sun in the sky, the second brightest setting or the brightest works for me perfectly fine. |

Does the one year warranty mepro offers (from what I've read, not 100%) bring up any concerns? I would've thought it would be longer. |

I'm debating hard between ordering the mepro or a pro this coming Friday. I already have an aimpoint ml3, which has been great but variety is the spice of life, right?

I like my mepro, the dot is crisp and clear. No problems yet, but then again it's a closet queen.
For me, it had all Pro's and little Cons. 1. Large Window, very easy to do both eyes open. 2. Built in QD mount, no paying extra for that. 3. No bluish tinge to the glass, bothers the crap out of me. 4. Long battery life. |

One concern of mine is the auto shut off/motion activated feature. I would prefer the dot simply stay on all the time like an Aimpoint, especially given the extremely long battery life. It makes no sense to me to have the auto shut off feature. Just something else to tear up IMO. Time will tell how well they hold up. |

Smart phones are beaten up more than optics. |
