Sorry in advance if this is in the wrong place, but I am wondering about peoples "real world" experiences with the P-223.
Is it durable with regular use? Is it worth the jump to the M series?
I am looking at the 3-9 magnification model, and am open to suggestions.  My budget is flexible up to about $400.00

Thanks.

This.

I have the M223 4-12x with BDC 600 and it's a great optic for $400. Thinking about snagging the M223 1-4x for my Recce as well, but I may spend the extra cash and go for the Vortex.

This should be pursued in the OPTICS forum ... You'll find more info there.

I don't like the "with 55gr." that is specified with this scope.  Most of my rounds are not 55gr.  Realistically, would it be that far off using 62gr bullets?  52gr.?  75gr?  I like the idea of them, but would need to know these things first.

I own 2, one calibrated for 223...the other i believe for rimfire?

anyway, so far (3 months) so good. i really like the turrets on the p223, the glass is pretty darn good as well.

You'll have no problem. I have the BDC 600 reticle. It has little notches in it to help you compensate from 100 out to 600 yards. Nikon has a software program available (SpotOn) that allows you to input what grain bullet you are using, and it will calculate everything for you.

Thanks. I wasn't aware of the software.  I reload,  so a program to help with different grains sounds great.

My buddy loves his M223 and he does not take care of his shit at all.  He tosses his rifle in the back of his truck it has seen some abuse and it is still working great.  His rifle truly looks like a combat rifle dings scratches all over the receivers but it never has quit on him.

My M-223 (w/Rapid Turret), along with the M-223 mount on my R-15 VTR is outstanding. Farthest shot to date was a coyote hit at 413 yds. After ranging it with Leupold RX-800, doped it up to the 420 yd mark, held right on and hit close enough to where I was aiming to drop the dog (55gr V-Max). Glass is as clear, if not clearer then any of the Leupold VX-3's that I own. Rugged, accurate, repeatable elev/windage, clear, great low-light capabilities. Hard to beat.

Buc's, A couple of question's. First how far do you want to shoot? Inside 200 yards at reactive target's or pin point accuracy at longer range? Does your rifle have a specific ammo it digests better then what Nikon Recommends for it's M-223 Rapid Action Turret Scopes? MV 3240 fps, 55 gr. polymer tipped bullet.

If you are going to be shooting inside of 200 yards I am a big fan of the M-223 1-4 Point Blank Reticle. Zero at 100 yards and you are pretty much right on out to 200 yards. Makes shooting stell an absolute blast.

The Rapid Action Turret and BDC scopes also come in 2-8 and 3-12 Magnification. A 4-16 is in the works for a late summer release.

The P-223 3-9 BDC is a great long range scope that lets you use SPot On to dial in your ammo to your rifle and scope for maximum accuracy.

Make sure you caheck out the P-Series and M-223 Series Scope Mounts as well.

Drop me a note if you have any more question's.

I've been considering one of thee scopes for my Remmy in .222.

Wold it have enough compensation for this round?  I do not know my MV at this time, my chrono is currently TU.

I had one of the 1x4 and it was a nice scope.  I would get one again.  My biggest issue is the are not made in the USA.
