Right now I have a mix of Gen 1 and 2 PMAGS, with maybe a few Gen 3's thrown in. My favorite mags are probably the windowed Gen 2. I get them from SG Ammo for $11.75 or so. My question is, would it be worth it to sell the Gen 1 mags to upgrade to Gen 2's ? I like they way they look a bit more. I wondering too if it would even be worth it to sell them. I would guess they don't bring much money.

Also, does anyone have some hard use Gen 1's that are still kicking along ? I've kinda wondered what the lifespan of they are (Both with hard use, and storing them loaded with no impact cover)

If your old mags work fine just keep them.

I would keep the old mags, and just continue to buy new mags as you can afford it.

Buy what you want now.  Buy more tomorrow and the next day.

Sell your old mags when the market is ripe.

Thanks for the replies all. I'm not sure why but I love to have the latest and greatest. I think it'll be interesting to see how long the Gen 1's last. Other than maybe cracking the spine or wearing out the spring, not much to go wrong I suppose.

For my needs the gen 3 PMAGs are NOT worth the extra money.  I also prefer how the dust cover clips onto the bottom of the gen 2 PMAGs.  They are significantly cheaper too.  Keep what you've got and buy more gen 2 PMAGs is my advice, unless you need the yen 3 ones.

Don't worry about it and keep them. They are still good quality mags.

+1 - a man can NEVER have too many mags or ammo

if you only run AR15s you are fine with Gen 1, but they seemed to have a lot of issues in all my non AR STAANG compatible guns...   I gave them to my buddies who only had AR15s, but they often bring them out to the range  and they want to shoot my non AR STANNG compatible guns, so the same sh!t happens.

I should have tossed them in the trash instead or donated to Goodwill for a laugh.

I keep my eye out for the DSG 10 packs (gen II) deals and pick up a pack when they do. Can't hurt to have a few packs stashed away! The only difference I notice between the Gen II and III is that the III's fit sloppy in my receivers. I actually prefer the Gen II.

The term "upgrade" is subjective and relative, if the gen3s have features you'd prefer over the gen1/2s then it's obvious.

I choose Pmags based on their color. I'm a colorist.

This is my strategy as well.  I have a mix of Gen I and Gen II.  The Gen II seem to have the best universal fit.
