Just wanted to share a pic of the color comparison to magpul fde.
Painted my pmags and gi mag with this can from home depot, a bit shiny but I think I prefer it to the black

Looks good. I did the same thing with some Rustoleum sand on some old G.I. mags. They also had some shine so I gave them two coats of clear flat paint. It took care of the shine.

Alumahyde II from Brownell's works much better(let it cure for a week). It is $10 a can but holds up.

I used alumahyde the first time last month, liked it so much I ordered another can. It does need a week to fully cure though, and be sure to prep the surface properly.
