Has anyone used the Magpul PMAG Ranger Plate on the metal USGI mags? If so which one did you use and how does it attach to the mag?
I have some 10 round mags for hunting and I was wondering if I can put the Ranger Plates on them.

Why wouldn't you just get the USGI Ranger Plates?

Thanks for your input Riley1980, I looked at those but there isn't much room on the bottom of a 10 round mag so I didn't think it would work.

once those ranger plates go on, they are very difficult to come off.

Brownells has them on their mags already installed as an option.  Good stuff.

Another option is you could go with the rubber slip-on type by magpul. They come in a 2 pack, and will fit on GI, Pmag, and HK.

Did you have to modify anything? I found this article about changing them over but he had to mod them. How hard is it to remove the floor plate on the mag, I've been trying to remove it but it wont budge and I'm nervous about ruining the mag.

I have these mags and I've tried to remove the floorplate but was unable to.

I have tried to use a punch and a hammer to tap them loose but it just wont slide loose. I know they should slide off with a little effort, I'm assuming it's the teflon coating, maybe?

See the two arrow shaped things on the left? They prevent the floorplate from sliding off.
You have to pry the floorplate up JUST enough to clear them and it will slide off (to the left in that pic)

Thanks, I knew it was something ridiculously easy. Floorplates slide right off!
