Who has a 62gr FMJ round that is not M855?  Just plain lead inside like M193 but heavier.

I've shot some 62gr ammo from Prvi that was all lead, not SS109/M855. Be careful when ordering though I believe they sell both.

ETA: I think Fiocchi has a similar load as well

Cool. TU.
Looking to see if it is better shooting than 855, which has never been consistent.

Federal AE223N
Aguila and Amscor also make a non steelcore 62gr

Got some of the Magtech on the way. Got a 1/8 5R barrel that needs heavier bullets but 855 is like shooting a AK

A 1:8 twist doesn't "need" a heavier bullet. It should shoot any bullet from 40 to 77 grains equally well in theory.

Consistency of the bullets base, weight, and concentricity have more to do with accuracy than bullet weight.

M 855 shoots poorly because it lacks most of these consistencies.

Has anyone used the non green tip AE 62gr ammo?  It appears to be .223 not 5.56.  I wonder how it compares to xm193 in the performance area.

Yep, mine shoots 77 very well but wanted 62gr over 55 but did not want 855 cause it is just fodder.

I've had pretty good results with Aguila 5.56 62gr ammo.

I've been meaning to check these out. Love their 123g 300blk.

Interested to see some gel shots with these. I've heard these 62g lead core act more like 7n6 than m855.

Bluefalcon, help me out brother.

non-m855, magtech is the answer. As already said about 10 times.

I just bought a bulk pack of this ammo this afternoon.  Supposed to be 247 (yes I know it's a very odd number) rounds in a black plastic ammo can.  Really looking forward to trying it out.

He also said "that clear gel is way more dense than ordnance gelatin" which is false.

No comparison.  Less pressure, different bullet.  I have no clue how thick the jacket is though.  So I suppose I could be wrong and it's a death ray.  I doubt it.

I have good luck with American Eagle in all other calibers than .223.  For some reason my AR's don't usually like AE 55 and 62grain stuff (besides XM193, I'm talking the .223 pressure stuff, no bueno for me).  So, I'm not planning on buying it any more.  But my 03A3 shot it really well when I tested it and it seems to do alright in other calibers.  .308 too.

Cant help on the comparison but as already said it will be slower. Muzzle velocity on the box is advertised as 3020 fps but I suspect it's from a 22-24'' barrel as other 223 spec ammo.

that said, Sellier&Bellot (55) and AE223 (mostly 55 & some 62) are my main goto ammo and I've never had a single malfunction in many years.
the AE 62 is ok but I didnt notice any advantage over the 55g as far as accuracy... Thats the only reason I wont buy anymore... I'll just stick with 55g for training/plinking/shtf and some 69g for more accuracy.

Aguila offers a 62grn lead/copper FMJ - but I wouldn't recommend it.

I've had 3 fail to fire in the first half of a box of 50.  The 55gr offering isn't much better - 2 fail to fire in the whole box of 50.

But they do offer it....
