Times weren't tight but were getting there when picked this stuff up for reasonable prices.
Don't have but a few boxes of the Malaysian. Dated 1981
RORG is 1992. Dirty stuff. Need to shoot up
Guatemalan. 1986 date.Have a few k. Still have some of the wooden crates.  That stuff is good but some of it had some corrosion. Have some battle packs but had to open most of it to get it out of the paper boxes.   Price was right iirc. Would have bought more if I could have swung it!

I'm down to my last 2000 rds of the radway and shot all the Malaysian I had left last year.  I do still have a sealed can of the Malaysian .308 tho.

All I've got is the empty radway brass... wish I'd trashed that shit!

I rediscovered 5x crates of the IMG I bought back in the day and haven't used up yet a bit ago.

Did you pull samples from the crates?  Some of the battle packs seal failed and I had some that was corroded. Some guys that got some had rough corrosion on it so bad they returned it.

ETA. Those cases were around $120 for 1440 rounds!

Of the 20+ crates I bought initially, some did have corrosion - though none so bad that I didn't eventually shoot those up. The crates I re-found all seem to be good - no corrosion signs on the cardboard sleeves, and no corrosion on the ones I opened up to verify they were all live rounds. I just started getting other ammo deals in after the guat, even cheaper, and switched off to those for my daily shooting needs.

Soo many tubs of SA M1A3 (essentially M193)...

Forgot about this stuff.  2000 date UAE ammo. You have inspect every single round for bad brass, cracks etc.

I rotated the last of my Guat through last year.  It was the oldest stuff (well, 5.56) that I had & some of it was corroding.  It all went bang but I was glad to get it out of inventory & use it up.

Remember the story on that stuff back then?  Supposedly was made on equipment they got from Winchester and moved to Guatemala.  It was pretty good stuff and the price was right.

I still have about 2k of the Guatamalen stuff.

I still have a full tub of South African and another pile of unopened battle packs.

I should pop one and see if that stuff is still good.

I have none of the above, but do have a South African battlepack and a bunch of yellow box Norinco.
Gonna blast some of the Norinco next time I go out.

Was it the Radway 5.56 that was loaded to the lower SA80 pressure and was causing cycling issues in some instances?   I guess it is sort of moot at this point as there really is not much of it left on the market anyway.

Let me know... I have a tub of it also. $299 was a great deal even then.

Not really low pressure, but odd pressure curve (sorta like Tula), so a lot of carbine gas rifles will not cycle it very well. It seemed to work fine in longer AR15s.

I still have a couple of crates of Guatemalan in battlepacks from AIM back in the day.

The first crate I bought, the termites had chewed INTO/through the battlepack plastic to get to the paper wrappers. The bugs were gone but termites shit was everywhere and the brass was lightly stained from the air/moisture.

I think I paid about 13.8cents/rd for 13,000 rds of it though. It was good M193.

The Brits had some pushback from NATO after we Yanks had issues with their stuff not working well in M4s, and they went back to the drawing board.  The problem was with the L85's gas system; they had issues with everbody else's NATO-standard rounds.  RG reworked their round a few times, so depending on the year, you might get "odd pressure curve" rounds.

The rifle was upgraded in the early 2000s by HK, making it much more robust, and more NATO-friendly.

I should add that some of the surplus RG stuff hit the market because it "didn't meet standards."  Pretty much like rejected lots of LC: too many out of spec rounds and the whole lot is rejected.  I can't remember what year my stash of the stuff is from, but research pointed to it being out there because of velocity variations.  I'm OK with that for what I want it to do, but it's not SHTF stash material.

Does the Guat have the IMG headstamp? How is the brass for reloading? I have a few hundred brass cases that found their way into my stash

IMG stands for "Industrias Militares de Guatemala."

And from my experience, it all has undersized flash holes.  These cases stick on my decapper but a quick twist of a flash hole uniforming tool and they're fine.

I've still got about 1K of IMG brass in reloading rotation that I purchased new a decade or more ago.

I've still got 12k of 2003 Guat. Half is packed loose in fat 50's (1560rds per can) and half still in 30rd boxes (52 to a can). Yes they are HEAVY!
Purchased 50k+ sold over half of it, shot about a quarter of it and still have about a quarter left. I lucked out on that stuff. I remember how hard it was for me
to open those BP's. Seemed like such a crazy thing to do...open a perfectly good sealed battle pack just to inspect. I got 1987-2003 lots. None of what
I got was crap. Better than 95% looked much better than the XM193 of the day. The problem IIRC was in the glue in some of the cartons. Also the wooden
shipping crates....had to watch for termites.
Radway: still have about 3k packed in those great nylon bandos. All of what I've got left is 1993. Was shipped 1988-1993 dates. I never had any issues
with the Radway or the Guat. No FTF's or squibs. All shot thru Colts, LMT's, Spikes and a Rock River, all 16".
Still got a couple tubs of SA M193.

Does anybody remember the Canadian IVI C-77? I can't remember where I bought it, JG Sales maybe? First SS109 I ever bought & it was around 10 cents per round. It was great ammo
guessing that was back in the early/mid 80's?  Malaysian was good stuff too. What I really miss are the 7.62x51 prices....200rd belts w/tracer in the can for $15-20 in the '70's.
I've still got linked Port, no tracer I paid $39 for a 200rd can around 2000, head stamped 1993. Those days are long gone

What came in the clear blister packs of 5 rounds each?  Was that Portuguese?  I came across a few hundred rounds of those in the basement recently.

I still have about 3k rounds of IMG (Guat) left in the ammo locker.  I think I've purchased over 10k of that stuff when they were about $120/k.  I also ordered from AIM couple thousand rounds of those 2nd grade loose IMG ammo for $90/1200 when they had them and shot them all...some were in pretty bad shape but they all shot okay.  IMG were not the most accurate ammo but they were okay for plinking and blasting (4-5 MOA from good rifle) and I don't think I had more than 2 or 3 rounds that didn't go bang.

I also got in on that SA M193 tub deal from SG.  I think it was about $330 for 1,200 rounds delivered at the time and I thin k I got 4 tubs.  I have the last 3 rubber packed battle pack in my SHTF ammo can.  For surplus ammo it was in good condition and shot well and never had a round not go bang.

Back in the late 80's to early 90's I also got a bunch of S. Korean M-193 ammo packaged as PMC with 1976 or 1978 dates on them.  They shot okay and was good for plinking and blasting.  I think they were $4 for pack of 20 rounds.

I recently bought a 1,000 round crate of Portuguese 55 grain. It was cool to see 5.56 in an eastern style sealed tin. Functions great but haven't tested for accuracy. Anyone have experience?
