Nearly shot a possum last night, but i didn't.

Went inside and ejected the round, when i picked it up, i noticed that the case had "folded"

The ammo is that American eagle 50 gr from psa

Safe to shoot?

Locking lugs, when ejecting it gets slammed pretty good as the round slides in or out of the chamber.

ETA Yes, shoot it. It'll fire form.

Disregard my bad info

I don't think your rifle did that, that's a defect from the factory.

I wouldn't shoot it, but it probably would be fine. Why take the chance?

I'm going to go with FredMan on this one. Looks like the brass was damaged during manufacture.

I've seen similar marks on some of my hand loads.

My personal criteria is that I won't shoot ammo with dings/damage near the shoulder area as it might affect headspace. I wouldn't try and shoot that one.

it wouldn't have done anything.  Case might have split.

That is a manufacturing defect. I've seen that kind of crease more than a few times over the years. I have and would again fire rounds that look like that as experience has shown no ill effect.. I've even fired ones much worse. I'm comfortable with it, others may not be. Individual choice, but know that it is not your rifle that did that.

"What would this have done to my rifle? "

Nothing.

I have fired much worse looking ammo out of numerous rifles.

Looks like it has a crease in it.

My rule is if it's dented I'll shoot it as long as it isn't terrible ( like obviously messed up enough to affect headspace ) and it chambers.

If there"s a crease I don't shoot it.

A crease will likely be weak enough for it to split.
