Mine eats everything I feed it.

You will hear TONS of difference of opinion on this, but if you want my advice buy a few different kinds (small quantities at first) and try them out.  Some rifles are picky some are not.  If you find an particular round that is reliable and up to your standards of accuracy then use it. That goes for brass and steel cased.

Tula is about as cheap as it gets, and my M&P 15 sport eats it up.

SG ammo has good prices and shipping in my experience.

Im looking around online to see what I can find, probably will just pick up a few rounds in store for now, and then look into bulk later.

If youre just messing around at the range for fun with a ar15 feed it whatever ammo you can find that is the cheapest. Steel cased would is fine for a rifle like that. The only rifle i am anal about what ammo i shoot is my M16 and thats because its worth about as much as a new car.

IMHO... most of the XM products aren't very accurate ... but certainly good enough for blasting. This deal is hard to beat .... just be prepared to wait up to 3 weeks for it.

The stripper clips are a huge bonus... reloading is much faster... and you get decent brass for trading or reloading.

For much better accuracy ( in my rifles ) ... as well as a good deal ... ( stripper clips are useless though , they don't work with any spoon I have seen... )

Try this....( much faster shipping... )

The PMC XTAC line is also quite accurate in my rifles... the PMC Bronze line is not.
Get the 55gr so you don't need to worry about steel issues.

If you have a walmart nearby they likely have 30 round boxes of zqi for 9.97.  It's basically ss109 62 gr penetrator, good stuff.

I shoot mostly Tula simply because it's cheap and all my rifles run it without issue. Most Walmarts should have it for $5.47 a box, pick up a few and see if your rifle  likes it.

Wideners has IMI 55gr for a smokin' hot deal right now...

.29 cents per round ( plus delivery )  $349 / 1200 round case.... that is some dang good full power milspec ammo for dirt cheap.

https://www.wideners.com/itemdetail.cfm?item_id=9017

A google search will show you how highly regarded this ammo is.

I would stay away from remanufactured ammo. Almost all the kabooms on this forum come from factory remanufactured stuff.
