For those of you that use an AR for home defense.

What ammo do you have loaded in that magazine marked for home defense?

Old school XM193.  I bought cheap and stacked deep years ago.  Many many cases.
For the space I have to defend, XM193 is perfect.

M193.

Yes, there is better stuff out there, and it has been proven time and again to be superior, both in windshield penetration and gel wound channels.

Nope, I don't really care.  M193 is good enough for me.

Mk 318 mod 0.

It's not accurate enough for 'reach out and touch someone' but it will do just fine at 'across the room' range.

All of my HD (some loads will also double as hunting loads, mostly the TSX's now) loaded mags:
2x 30 Fed Fusion 62
2x 20 PDX1 77gr
2x 20 Rem Hog 62 gr TSX
1x 20 SSA 69gr match
1x 20 SSA 70gr TSX
1x 55gr rem Power Point

My first mag up is a 20 loaded with old school Remington 55JSP's. Backup mags are 30's with old Winchester PowerPointPlus 64-grain moly-coated JSP. It's not a religion with me; I'd be content with a lot of different loads, as long as they're not way out on the fringe edges of available options.

Wideners lower
SigBrace

I'm a little miffed that I just bought about 100 rounds of 77gr OTM  right before the TMK came out.

5.56 75 gr TAP with the 5.56 FBIT3 TBBC load every third round.  (I also have dedicated tap and fbit3 mags)

I'm really interested to see new gel shots from the black hills TMK ammo. I also have doubletap 223 77gr nosler rounds that could be used in a pinch.

They are loaded up and in a drawer in my nightstand, but I bought most of it for hunting purposes (minus the PDX1, ballistics dont look so great for hunting. Seems to fragment after looking at test videos) But all of it will be good for HD so I figure why not keep it near by?
Also have a lot of magazines filled with M193 or M855 as well, but its all in the closet since I have gotten what I listed above.

- 75gr T2 TAP 5.56
- M193
- and then plenty of Silver Bear, Brown Bear, and Wolf for the zombie hordes..

Prvi Partizan 75 gr BTHP. It shoots 1.5 MOA from my SHTF rifle and has excellent terminal performance. It also costs a lot less than many other defense choices.

From the ballistic test Ive seen the M193 does great at close distances. I know many have busted on its performance but that may be trying to use it at longer distances in a short barrel.
