I haven't looked further into it, but the trunk lid won't shut with the. 22 bolt in the upper.

It charges fine and functions, but the rear door will not close due to the shape of the rear end off the cmmg conversion.

Before I get the dremmel out, wondering if anyone else has corrected this problem

I have not, but instead of grinding the .22 conversion, why not just take off the closure part in the upper?  Looks like you just need to drive out the tension pin.

That is a very good question. The answer (sadly) is that it feels like someone it blowing sand in your face each time you fire it.
