I have a Faxon 16" barrel inbound for a rifle build but there seems to be few comps or flashhiders available for 9mms threaded for 1/2x28.

I know that there is some debate as to the effectiveness of comps on longer 9mm barrels, but setting that argument aside, what's out there?

I'd specifically like to hear from actual users with an explanation of why you chose the device that you did.

I put together a 16" barreled 9mm and used one of the JP compensators, to make sure the timer would pick up the report on the mouse fart loads my wife uses for steel challenge.

I use a standard A2 half-birdcage, reamed out to pass 9mm (to .400), on a 1/2x28 threaded barrel.

Slim line flash can going on my 5.5" pistol.  Because it's one of the few flash cans threaded 1/2×28 that is bored for 9mm.

BUT.... while I have a 1/2x36 pitch Lantac.... I will say it does NOTHING in the recoil dept... ( I know you said not to go there... )

IMHO, my money would have been better spent buying another MagLula loader..... the 9x19 simply does not produce enough gas to utilize the break.... at all.

Just trying to save you your money.... buy an A2 Birdcage if you really want something on the end of the barrel.

As to why I bought it ?

I did not know better and it was on sale.

Lone Wolf sells a pretty nice one that serves as a good thread protector:

I have the KAW Valley and think it is pretty effective in taking bounce out and also directing sound down range. Can almost shoot it without ear pro.

For most of my guns, the only muzzle device is a silencer. Otherwise they're bare.
For my AR9 however, I went with a 4.5" barrel under a 6.5" handguard, so I put the KAK slimline flash can on it in case I ever shoot it unsuppressed.
