Looking for a 4"  handguard and there aren't many options. I want one for my 5" 9mm SBR, only one I found that I like is the Sampson, are there any similar of same quality?

SLR has one that I have been thinking about getting. I have seen a bunch of the YHM units on the 5" barrels.

Thanks, saw the YH one and don't care for that. I'll check out the SLR.

I'm looking for the same.  I am only interested in a quad rail.  4" or 5".

Haven't found much.  Daniel defense used to make one that looks perfect, but you cannot find them anymore.

Yep, so far the Sampson is the best looking option.

ETA:  The barrel is a 5" Macon Armory barrel.
Here is the Guntec 4" over 5.5"  5"barrel. The barrel shoulder is just past inside the end of the rail and allows the Osprey to mount perfectly.

Thank you. The design of the rail and Osprey really came together well.

STOP THE PRESSES!  I oopsed on the barrel length. It is a 5" barrel that I installed a Gemteck spacer on and it worked out perfect. Sorry about the confusion.

Barrel threads w/o spacer:

It is a Macon Armory 5" barrel with 1/2x28 threads. Here is another picture of the muzzle/rail relationship with the knurled spacer in place:

That Guntec handguard looks like it was cut with a hacksaw?

You won't be getting the equivalent to a high end rail for sure.  I think I paid around $49 on Amazon for it last fall.

Yeah something looked off haha. Because I have a Faxon 8.5" barrel with a 7" Guntec M-LOK rail:

I have about .35" from the front of the rail to the back of the suppressor.

That is a nice rig you have.

When I was looking through my photobucket library for a picture, I noticed my LH Stag with a 5.5" and same 4" rail looked just like yours. Then it dawned on me, I had 5" Macon Armory and 5.5" Andro barrels on hand when I put the sbr's together.

I know you said you don't like them but I had the yhm mini rails on two of my SBRs with no issues.  The stocks and optics have changed since then but I'm still using the mini rails.

Samson is excellent and looks great. I believe Odin Works makes a small rail. Odin Works makes a 5.5" that is awesome; I have it on my 4.5" SBR with a tri-lug adapter. My Octane .45 and my Gemtech Multimount fit right under the rail. When I don't run it suppressed, I use a three-lug flash hider by B&T.

Homemade by an ARFCOM member that doesnt make them anymore.  I've tried to get them commercially made with no luck..  It's an HK grip, cut down, then melted to a Tango Down rail cover which acts as the mount.

I have 4" Guntec M-LOK rails.

They use a steel barrel nut since they are so short:

I have a 4" barrel would a 4" handguard work if I want the end to look almost flush with the barrel? I think I'm just going to use a thread protector not flash can. Anybody have a 4" barrel with handguard picture? Thanks

No - a 4" barrel would be recessed with a 4" railed handguard.  If you want any protrusion from your handguard - you'd need a flash can.

Here is a picture of a YHM style 4" railed handguard, with a QC10 5.5" barrel.  The barrel is 5.5" exactly from the end of the barrel extension to the muzzle.

The rail is exactly 4 and 1/8th inches:

By the way - Delta Team Tactical has a 4" YHM style handguard for $16.99.

It is NOT the one pictured in their ad, I ordered it and received the YHM style in the pics above.

http://www.deltateamtactical.com/Vector-Optics-Free-Float-Pistol-Length-4-Inch-Handguard-Quad-Rail_p_4213.html

For the money, you aint gonna find anything cheaper, that's for damned sure.  It is as good as any YHM rail I have ever installed.  It does include a single screw that goes in the bottom to secure the tube to the barrel nut for anti-rotation purposes.

Ok thanks, I ordered that rail for that price I'll use it if I like the length if not I can always use it for a future build.
