Hi all

I am looking for the best of all worlds (yeah right).

I run 147 over 3.2 of titegroup in my g34.

I would like to use the same in the carbine( and i do and it works great)

I want to use the carbine (16 inch) out to 125yards on steel.  I would like to use one load in both platforms.

Am i gaining anything running 115 grain as far as drop/holdover?  I would like to go as flat as possible.

I have heard that the 9mm uses all its powder/energy in like 8-9 inches of barrel. Is this true?  Is there a benefit of running hotter 115?

It is all running good now using my current load info. I was just windering what other people's experience is.

Thx

I don't load my own 9mm, only .45acp, and in my .45 JR carbine I see  a noticeable difference in POI at 50 yards with 185 gr vs 230 gr slugs. Haven't shot 147 gr side by side with 115 gr. in any of my carbines but shooting beyond 100 yards I'd have to believe there's a significant drop in POI. As a rule of thumb I sight in with 115 gr 9mm and 185 gr .45 in my carbines and run 147 gr 9mm and 230 gr .45 thru my pistols.

Work up some ladders with both 115 & 147. That's the only way to know what will work in your gun. I have 2 16" AR's using the same powder and bullet TAC, Hornady 55gr btfmj.
IF i wanted more than plinking / steel plate accuracy i'd have to do different powder charges for them. The 16" carbine gas system likes 25.4 for in the xring @ 100yds. The mid length gas system, 24.2 for on the money performance.  Unfortunately there is no set boiler plate data for ALL guns.

My 147's drop way before the 124's do. Regarding 115's. I like the overall performance of the 124's better.  Bullet design and who made them, play a part in the big picture.  You'll get better performance from a known manfacturer then using pulled and or seconds / blems. YMMV

I don't care for 147's in any of my 9mm carbines. Normally I run 115 RNs with Unique. Sometimes I run the 124's;  If I recall NATO testing found the 124 to be the best all around bullet, but that was with their high speed loads.

147's run slow and drop like rocks in my experience. If you want flatter shooting, avoid them!

I use the 147 & 124 since i'm shooting suppressed. The 124's IMO have less recoil and overall performance then the 115's. But again there is no boiler plate load for ever gun.

147 with 3.6 Titegroup is good on steel for pistol and carbine. For 100 yard paper punching, you might want to stick with 124.
